Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
This was such a lovely experience, with warm and accommodating hosts, in a perfect location. Hotel Wollner is a beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, renovated with respectful attitude towards the rich history of the old town. There is original artwork by contemporary artists adorning the hallways, the rooms, the restaurant and conference rooms. There is a restaurant in the cellars, a spa, the inner yard and back garden- lavender still blooming now in November. Breakfast is generous, with healthy options and traditional Hungarian alternatives, to please even the pickiest vegetarian. Coffee cups were large and the bread and pastries warm, a wonderful way to start the day, ahead of exploring old Sopron. A big thank you to our hosts, the hotel owners, hoping to come back.

My husband and I decided to take a weekend getaway from Budapest and that doesn’t feel so straightforward in the time of Corona. Nonetheless from the first phone call with Natalia enquiring about hygiene and safety ( her reassurance on this matter was comforting - they were managing a very small amount of guests by choice) to our traffic ticket that they very graciously assisted us with , I would say the whole experience was a 10.
This very sweet hotel is more like an inn - family managed with the utmost care and since it was our wedding anniversary we had our choice of very bright, well decorated rooms and were very happy with room 103 which was also spacious and cheerful.
The hotel is on a historic street next to the main square in this adorable medieval town which makes meandering and eating very delightful.

We love Hotel Wollner and its staff, the beautiful interior, the huge rooms. We plan to return for a third time. Strolling the streets of its Old Town is just fascinating...like stepping back in time. So much beauty. Even going into a small grocery store on the ring around old town is so fun and interesting. LOVE SOPRON.

+1
We spent three nights in the hotel. This is a family business in a nicely refurbished very old house in Oldtown Sopron. The rooms are magnificent and cosy. The hosts are extremely friendly. The breakfast is great and includes any egg dish you choose. If you want to visit the nost important sights in Sopron then you choose Hotel Wollner.

It is difficult to describe the experience of the family-run Wollner Hotel with adequate words.
Simply perfect! Sopron is a jewel box of Hungarian history anyway, but the hotel, renovated in its original condition, is a gem of the city's incredible past. The hotel itself is like a museum. A collection of original objects from Roman times to the present day.
The service and breakfast are also amazing. Cleanliness, kindness, traditional local hospitality. (Don't miss the historical wine cellar). The hotel will help you discover the most interesting attractions in the area! Niki at the reception takes care of everything! Highly recommended!

Very nice hotel in the centre of Sopron, with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was large and quiet, everything was perfectly clean. Buffet breakfast, served in a beautiful large room, was excellent. Next time we will certainly choose this hotel. The owners certainly love their job.

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Wollner in Sopron. It is in an old building, right in the center of town, five minutes walk from the main square, but totally new inside and very quiet (because of traffic restrictions). The staff was extremely friendly; most did not speak English but there was always one English-speaker on duty and all spoke German. The room was a nice size and the bathroom immaculate; the only drawback was the double bed was two singles pushed together and there was a slight divide... Breakfast was ample as well and included hot options. Couldn't pick a better place in an extremely charming town well worth a couple-day visit.

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Wollner. The hotel was a little difficult to find when we arrived in town in car from Vienna, as it is located in quaint, interior street in the historic town center. But we are glad we found it, because the hotel was very nice. Our room on the second floor above the front desk area was very clean and welcoming. The restaurant is affordable and we enjoyed two meals there. The staff was incredibly friendly, and helpful. Sopron is beautiful, and we enjoyed it immensely.

Dear Susie,
Our rooms are not air conditioned, but in the summer all of them are equipped with ventilators, and we could provide a room on the first floor -if we have availability there- which is not so warm.
Kind regards,
Kosdiné Kőszegi Nikolett
receptionist of Hotel Wollner
Dear Ms. Yvonneka1,
We might be able to provide a room for you looking onto the garden. We donnot have air-conditioning unfortunately, however we open windows during the night and early morning to cool the rooms. We also provide fans in every room for guests. If requested in time, we are able to place guests in rooms on the first floor which are cooler. Thankfully, the hotel has thick walls which means that the hotel is usually cooler furing the summer than most buildings, and warmer in the winter.
If you have any further inquiries please contact us directly!
Kind regards, Krisztina Méri
