Detailed Reviews
A good choice to relax, select between several sports activities or profit from the neighborhood to Austria to do some sightseeing in Vienna. It's less than an hour to go by car, you will pass many beautiful castles on your way including Schoenbrunn and the Esterhazy Castle in Eisenstadt, the working place of the great musician Joseph Haydn. Western Hungary itself also preserves a lot of castles and museums to visit. Do not miss the open air opera performances in summer.
Enjoy sailing or swimming (5 km the Neusiedler Lake) and nordic walking in the beautiful woods around the hotel. Accomodation is much cheaper in Sopron than in Vienna, food is delicious, the rooms are clean, the wellness center offers all you need for a work out.
The hotel chain is one of the largest in this country and stands for reliable service quality. On some occasions you may get a bargain rate of 30 € for a single room. No need to spend more on other places.

The room that we got was too cramped, and too warm in July. We had to stack a chair on top of a table so we could move around. The bathroom stinks from the time we entered the room and had to leave the light on to keep the ventilator on.
For the price you have to pay, you'd at least hope to get liquid soap to wash your hands. There was none. We asked the guy at the reception and he said they don't provide soap.
The pool is a small children pool to cater for guests from 100-200 rooms. So you can imagine on a hot summer's day how packed the pool area was.
You have to pay for the robes, you have to pay for the rental fee by the hour for the balls if you want to play billiard. I was actually expecting a toll booth by the entrance of the forest! The place is a cash cow yet the management didn't even bother to fix the wooden playground equipments.
The only good thing is the food. Enough variety.
It was not a good experience at all. So we earlier than we had planned. Not a place that I'd go back to again. Nor will I recommend to anyone.

I spent only one night in the hotel. My room was not modern, the furnishing was quite old, it is visible that the hotel needs some renovation, but it was spotlessly clean and for one night it was comfortable enough, bathroom was also OK. Dinner and breakfast were surprisingly good. They serve traditional Hungarian food, and rich buffet breakfast. Staff members are attentive, kind, I think they are the most valuable assets of this hotel. I did not have time to try the spa facilities, but they looked quite nice too. Next time I have a business meeting in the area, I will return to this hotel for the great service and great food.

Dirty room, dirty bathroom, shabby, old, broken furniture, disgusting carpet in room and hotel halls full of dirty stain, broken shower head sprinkling water everywhere, broken old disgusting garbage can, balcony disgusting, dirty chairs outside. And the smell within the room: like if you were in a wasteplan. If you don t eat everything at the breakfast buffet, there is a paper saying that you will have to pay for what you leave there, even if you don t like the taste?? By the way, no fridge in the rooms, and we came with a toddler.... is this really a hotel? I would rather say a homeless shelter?breakfast between 8-9 only......Avoid this place!

Worst hotel ever!
Dirty rooms, no cleaning, even if you ask they don’t do anything. Unpleasant stuff.
We stayed for almost three weeks. During this time they cleaned my room only 3 times. Each time I had to ask for it specially, but they never washed the bath tub or the sink during three weeks. The rooms are badly maintained, the furnitures are old. All together the exterior feels like a time travel to the ‘80s. The mattress was too soft.
They have pool which was smelly and green from algae... horrible experience

The upgraded rooms are modern, comfortable and fully meet today's needs. The staff is nice and professional in their profession. The food was very tasty, we had an ample buffet for breakfast. I recommend it wholeheartedly! Thank you! We had a great time!

Very dated hotel, tried to see the best in things but waking up on the final day covered in ants and bugs was the last straw!!!!! Food was hit and miss. Dinner sometimes ok but breakfast generally poor.
The spa / swimming pool seems to catering for the older guest as they don't seem to be happy for children to be in there, if this is the case then they need to make people aware of it!!!!
Stay here as a last resort.
The only things that made the stay good was the weather, (which was fantastic) and the town.

This hotel provided me with one of the most uncomfortable experiences for a long time. Just to list my problems: the room me and my wife were provided was very unclean, downright dirty. When having asked the receptionist to get it cleaned, they did not clean it. We stayed for four days, the bed sheets were not changed, the towels were not changed, toilet paper was only provided on request, the bins were not changed, liquid soap was not available even on request. The bed was uncomfortable, air conditioning was missing. You can rent (!!!) a bath towel from the pool area, it is not provided for free. You have to pay for parking, it is not included in the price. The fridge did not work in the room. The hotel oozes from the wish to make a quick buck on the unfortunate tourist who shows up. The restaurant offers a decent breakfast and a decent dinner. It is also seriously overpriced for the kind of service it offers. Avoid it if you can, I am sure that anything you find in the area will give you a better relaxing opportunity than this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel with my husband and little son in June 2018 for 3 nights and we had mixed feelings.
When we entered the room we found that there was an extra bed for our son even though I had emphasized we needed a baby cot in the booking as he was only 2 years old. They changed it but it wasn't a nice start.
The room itself was medium-sized but very old-fashioned and run-down. It was very light in the mornings. The small TV was probably 30 years old. The balcony door remained open all the time, we couldn't close it properly. The balcony was so dirty that I didn't dare to go outside. The bed should have been thrown out years before, but they put an extra mattress on it instead, which meant sleeping very high. The top mattress was awful, with big holes, and I was constantly afraid of falling down on the floor. The bathroom wasn't very modern either, it was painful to enter and look at the 50-year-old tiles on the walls. There was a small, battered bathtub with a dirty shower curtain.
The wellness area is ridiculous, the water in the so-called swimming pool was probably drinking water, definitely not something to enjoy. No wonder nobody was swimming in it when we visited, despite the hot weather.
The only real merit of this hotel could have been the food, breakfast and dinner, which were both excellent and there was a really wide choice. However, the staff wasn't friendly and on the third night we had to eat outside in a tent (because of a wedding reception), and we had to fight flies and other insects that were gathering around us and our food. The last morning we had to beg for someone to bring a highchair back from the tent to the breakfast room so that our son could have breakfast. It's certainly not the way to treat guests.

This was once a great place, modern and unique up on the hills on this fantastic location. Typical big hotel for families, affordable, accessible, offering spa, activities, and relaxation. But decades passed and while the surrounding is still beautiful, time have had its mark on the building. When you enter, you enter the 80's. Literally. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean, and you see that they try their best to keep it up, but all needs refurbishment. Windows and doors are old, furnitures outdated, balconies are sad and gray. The staff is very welcoming and polite, they could be in any 5 star hotel. The man is charge is always around, and that's a good sign. The wide selection of foods and its quality at breakfast and dinner is remarkable! In a nutshell: service is five star, but the building must be updated (more than re-paining) to gain its old fame back and its potentials fully used. Hotel Szieszta could be again the number one in the region, I hope investors also think alike.
