What a great hotel in Old town Bratislava.....very 'old world' looking on the outside but very modern on the inside in fact I was a bit leery at first because it seemed to be just a dark alley. The staff are accommodating and friendly' Breakfast (which was included in the price) consisted of both hot and cold was top notch....

I booked this hotel going mainly on the location as I had just two nights in Bratislava. I had a taxi pre-booked from the airport and as the hotel is in a pedestrianised part of the old town I was dropped off a couple of hundred yards away. Entrance is in a narrow cobbled street just to the right through...

We love the location of Michalska Brana. Everything is within walking distance. We had a great time walking around, dining and drinking. Our room was clean, good wifi, an ok breakfast. Parking is available but for a fee and it is a hike for the poor wheels on your suitcase.

I was not sure how to rate the hotel because for location and room size it deserves 5 stars, but we did not find the staff particularly friendly or helpful at all. First morning had to wait ten minutes for hot water to make some tea. What was left of cooked breakfast at 9.30 did not look very appetising. Breakfast...

Hotel is super centrally located however that does come with a small price of some inconvenience of noise from the courtyard at Primi which the rear of the hotel directly overlooks. Having said that the hotel has serious double glazing in place so that this is reduced as best as possible. Superbly located for old town. You cannot drive near...

This little hotel had charming, modern rooms which were comfortable and pretty. The location is great, on a cobbled side street about a 1/3 of a block from the clock tower where there are great restaurants, cafes and shops. The hotel had breakfast and wifi. I would definitely stay here again. I really loved it!!

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights recently as a single traveller. It is a budget hotel so one should not expect too much. I had a single room which actually was half of a small single. it was basic but very clean. the room contained a single bed,far from luxurious bedclothes,a small table ,a small wardrobe,a tv,safe and large...

The room at Hotel Michalska Brana was huge and had all of the amenities. It's located just a few yards from Michael's Gate, which puts you close to the squares, shops, restaurants, etc. We decided to get the food plan, which provides breakfast each day. The buffet had a wide range of meats, cheeses, cereals and pastries. Something for everyone....

We stayed in this hotel as the start of our mini-European-tour for 2 nights. The location of this hotel cannot be faulted - it is central, and a stones throw away from the old town. It can be a little bit of a problem - the Friday night in particular was extremely noisy with the hustle and bustle of the...

This is a nice central hotel, underneath the castle. Whilst being an old building, the rooms were modern and very functional, and mine had a great shower. If I had a complaint, it was that the delivery vans, and worse a garbage truck, reversed up the narrow dead end street outside the hotel and were quite noisy.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Michalska Brana is located in a very quiet street of the pedestrian zone of the Old Town, Bastova Street 4. Bastova Street is considered to be the narrowest and most romantic street of Bratislava. Street itself tells many stories. It was built in 13th and 14th century and in medieval age and for centuries it used to be famous for being a home of the city hangman. His house was demolished and replaced with a new baroque building in the middle of 18th century right facing the property of our hotel. Hotel Michalska Brana is neighboring to majority of embassies and also therefore our location is very safe. All sights on hand - we are only a 1 minute walk to nearby Saint Michael’s Gate, cafe and entertainment Michalska Street or medieval Kapucinska Street, just about a 5 minute walk to the Opera or Presidential Palace. The nearby Bratislava Castle you can reach in 20 minute walk, which is a time you need to get to Danube River too. ... more   less
