Before choosing this hotel I read the reviews on trip advisor and didn't think the negatives people mentioned would bother us. Turns out, they did. The room was a bit small and in the back corner facing another building right across the way. We tried to book a sauna but were told they were not allowed to be used at...

Stayed four nights at the hotel in early April with a friend. We found the hotel to be centrally located to walk the city. The hotel is just minutes to the pubs, restaurants and shops. First-class accommodation (considering we were visiting a former Cold War outpost). The front desk staff were multilingual and helped us with a wide range of...

after arriving in Tallinn on an extremely frightening landing because of heavy snow around 2am, all we wanted to do was get to the hotel and chill out. we booked a taxi to the old town and he was unable to drive into it. the hotel was yards from the old town gates but we were directed the wrong way...

We stayed in the Vana Wiru for two nights. Great location near the Wiru gate. We booked a junior suite with sauna as this was the same price as a standard double when we booked. The room was on the fifth floor in the eaves of the roof. The low ceilings sounded like a charming feature initially but aren't so...

I stayed here for 2 nights in June 2007 when the England football team were playing Estonia. I chose this hotel for it's location, it is in the Old Town an a pedestrian street. I had a single room and it was very small but spotlessly clean and quite modern. As soon as you step out of the hotel you...

A very brief trip to Estonia (side-trip from Helsinki) saw a group of us lob at Vana Wiru for the night. It was amazing how the prices varied for hotels in Tallinn, especially for walk-ups like our group of 4. After negotiating a rate of approximately US$100 per night for a twin room (yes, the same one with the red...

We stayed for 4 nights in January. The rooms were clean and simple if a little small. They were also very warm given that it was a bit chilly outside! The location cannot really be faulted. The central square is only a couple of minutes walk away and everything in the old town is easilly accessable on foot. There are...

Stunning hotel, superb value, perfect location. The room was lovely, the bath was out of this world for soaking the cold bones after -15 degrees C February weather. The staff were really helpful, breakfast was good but the attached bar was a tad souless.

Hotel is in a great location, and Tallinn is so compact that everywhere in the old town and the port are in easy walking distance of the hotel. Bedroom quite basic, beds OK, bathroom was good. Breakfast was fine. Go to the top of St Olaf's Church spire for amazing views across the city.

The Vana Wiru is "OK". That's not a criticism; it's just that it's perfectly adequate and not a great deal more. Good points: The location is very good - right in the Lower Town (which is just a couple of minutes walk to the Town Hall Square; about 15 mins walk to the top of Toompea Hill). Quite hard to...
