"The Gables" is one of three delightful characters that make this a great place to stay. A comfortable old home with bright, sunny rooms - so nice to come back to! The other two are owners Ian and Paula, welcoming and knowledgeable hosts who are keen to help you make the most of this lovely area. Good company, an excellent...

Thank you so very much for that kind and splendid review Noreen. Whilst of course we do our utmost always to try and make everybody's stay as special as possible, I have to say that such delightful and relaxed guests such as yourself make it very easy and we much enjoyed hosting you. Warm regards, Ian and Paula

I was here for a day and felt very welcome. Rooms: The house is older but very comfy and cosy. Though it might be cold in the winter, I was there in summer so the weather was quite warm I was in the Marineer room, the shower and bathroom are outside the room across the hall but it is your...

There are lots of places i happily give an excellent rating to but then you come across somewhere quite exceptional like the Gables where the hosts make a real effort to get to know their guests and make them feel like friends. They even lend you their Cruising guide for the duration of your stay. We were in one of...

Gosh, what a lovely sentiment - thank you Steve for taking the time to write your kind comments in Trip Advisor. It is in such encouraging feed-back that our reward lies and it was a delight to host you. We hope you took treasured memories home with you of your time in the sounds and that it measured up to...

We enjoyed our two nights in the spacious cottage at the rear of the Gables. The hosts are engaging and delightful people and you get a bit of non-native Kiwi perspective from them, since they were both born in Africa, which makes an interesting change. They were extremely helpful with things like booking the Inter-Islander and recommending Beachcomber, and since...

I stayed at The Gables for two nights while exploring the Marlborough Sounds. The real highlights are the friendly, accommodating and charming hosts Ian and Paul, who helped with suggestions for walks and restaurants around Picton, wineries & sights in Marlborough and setting me up with a delicious breakfast - either at The Gables itself, or a light breakfast on...

We were very glad to have chosen The Gables for our overnight stay off the ferry from Wellington. It was an easy walk (with backpacks) from the ferry, a nice comfy room and super breakfast. Ian and Paula are very welcoming hosts and the house feels like home as soon as you enter. It was the start of a wonderful...

Ian and Paula are the perfect people to run a B&B. They are so friendly and kind. They made extra effort to make our stay, one night as part of our larger honeymoon, really nice. They were incredibly accommodating, had useful tips, and were generally just great people. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great. The muffin club...

Thank you Lizz so much for taking time to write such an outstanding review. We much appreciate it but I can't help thinking of it as two way traffic, so to speak. With such receptive and friendly travelers as you were it is so pleasant and easy for us to respond in similar fashion. But we are truly appreciative of...

Ian and Paula were great hosts and made us feel very welcome in their home. Our bedroom was not the largest but this was more than made up for by the absolutely fabulous breakfast. Hi Maggie & Chris, Thanks for taking time out to write such a nice review. I can't recall the circumstances on the day but I imagine the larger rooms and the cottage were already booked at this busy time. The smaller room is more affordable for slightly more budget concerned guests and single guests and thus is a popular choice...

We booked a cottage at the rear of the property as all the bedrooms were taken and we stayed three nights. It was nice to have plenty of space and there is a separate living room. Hi Peter & Vivien, I am so sorry, I really thought I had responded to your wonderful review, but it appears not.
