My boyfriend and I stayed here as an overnight stop whilst we began our southward journey of the South Island. The staff was very chatty and friendly, and the kitchen/common rooms were fantastic! This was also the first place where we experienced the free chocolate pudding/ice cream and it was delicious! The dorms were on the smaller side, but the...

Terribly hard beds. Place was also a bit stick in the mud-dy and a bit out of the way of the ferry. The rooms did t lock here either and the security door to the toilets which were outside of the main inside hallway was left unlocked for people to access toilets, making the rooms also accessible to thievery/ other...

After a few days of woofing I decided to ask I I could leave earlier because I just didn't have a nice stay. Mostly because I felt left out from the other people woofing and didn't feel welcomed. The respond I got was not the one I thought and they called me racist because most of the other woofers was...

I have booked the Sequoia Lodge as there was nothing else available in Picton for a reasonable price. I appreciated the very friendly staff and nice invitation for regular 8pm pudding served to all guests for free. I can imagine it is a good place to stay for younger travellers or backpackers with low comfort expectation and limited need of...

Very familiar. Every day you get free breakfast and in the evening chocolate pudding with icecream! Free Internet but sometimes slow (especially in the evening when everyone uses it) Rooms are very clean, hot showers. Seperate toilets (in my room the door does not close properly but that isnt a big problem)

Stayed here for one night - I could have stayed a week! they even run a free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to their lodge - although it's only a 10 min walk (at best) from the high street area of shops to the hostel (I noted that one reviewer has said it takes 15 mins to walk it...

Looking for a place to stay over night close to the ferry to North Island, we first stopped at a motel in Renwick. They wanted $130 for very basic grubby accommodation. Why so much I asked? Because it's close to the ferry! We went to the local info centre and they found us Sequoia Lodge in Picton. Less than five...

We stayed in their family room suitable for 4 with a double bunk and single above and a separate single bed. The room was a good size with 2 desk lamps. Single toilet and shower nearby. Our room was at the southern end of the building outside the main block. No heater is in the room so it could be...

Really enjoyed my stay at sequoia lodge, the staff are all very helpful and friendly. There are great seating areas outside, including a hammock and nice communal facilities. Really enjoyed playing the big chess outside too. Very nice place to stay and great for the tirohanga trail which gives a great view of Picton.
