We stayed overnight, and thought the room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Great location, and great service. A welcome pack in the room would have been useful (where to go, what to see, local cafés and restaurants etc). We'd stay again.

We stayed for just one night after crossing on the ferry from north island en route to Christchurch. Loved everything about tiny Picton and would definitely stay at Gateway again. The room was fairly small but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean, with everything we needed. Kent and Marie were friendly and helpful, and even sent on our coats (which I...

We arrived into Picton on the last arriving InterIslander ferry from Wellington on December 26. Our accommodation was an easy 5 minute stroll from the ferry terminal just off the main street in the centre of town. Godd impressions were made from the start when we were met by a really nice host called Marie who had stayed up to...

We spent a night at the Gateway in Picton after our ferry ride from the North Island to the South Island. The room was clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. The manager stayed up for our late arrival (we took the last ferry over), and provided us with lots of advice on places to go and things to...

This is right in town within walking distance of the supermarket and shops. Kent, the owner, is friendly and helpful. To him, nothing seems to be too much bother. Highly recommended for stays in Picton.

The location is just a very short walk from restaurants and the harbour. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were adequate albeit the kitchen / lounge was pretty small for a two bedroom unit. The beds were comfortable. The only downer was the walls between units were pretty thin - especially in the bathrooms..... We also stayed...

The owners of the Gateway Motel were most cheerful and helpful: they offered to pick up us from the ferry terminal, and later drove us to the train station. They gave us useful advice on what to see, where to eat and also had a small library of books for guests' use. The room was large, and although a little...
