Top-flight establishment from the word go. Every staff member always greeted the guest with a generous smile and pleasant greeting. One evening after coming in late from exploring the city I upon entering the lobby was overcome with a craving for a diet coke; the concierge, Ridi after learning of my situation said to me, hold on one moment, he came back with a old-school bottle of diet coke. That was cool. I would definitely seek out the InterContinental hotel brand and my future travels

The service is first rate as is the cleanliness, layout and variety of facilities. The location is very good also right next to the water taxi, hotels and bars and some good walking options. However......(more on that later). The room decor is of good quality, albeit a bit bland, and the rooms are of a very good size with everything working and easy to use. A good sized desk and office chair helps if like me, you have to do some business in your room. Housekeeping perhaps are a little overzealous in changing things daily if you don't put your privacy card up. The biggest problem I had is the location from a noise point of view. I must admit I am a light sleeper, but there are multiple noise issues - they aren't overly intrusive but enough for me, and several of my colleagues to have disrupted sleep each night. The hotel is just 100m from The Anthem - a 5,000 person indoor concert venue. So if its not rowdy patrons yelling down the street after 11pm, its the sub-bass throbbing and mumbling into your space from 8-11 each night. Its subtle but more than noticeable. Also there were often corporate events on the wharf with their own overly-loud outdoor PA systems blaring until about 11pm. Then there is a major delivery loading lane on the N side, with the obligatory reversing beepers each morning at 6am as well as the cyclical squeal of a fan belt every 20mins from a nearby HVAC unit somewhere. There is also a fair bit of noise leakage from your neighbours TVs also between rooms. Again, not much - but enough to disturb. So if you're a light sleeper, pack the ear plugs and maybe some mild sleeping tablets.

Alone, The InterContinental Hotel, nestled in the center of dc's New wharf district, is pleasant and comfortable. But what really made my trip memorable, and many in my group, was the amazing lobby and desk staff. My first interaction with Aries at the door was incredibly warm and genuine. His always pleasant attitude and dedication to service made for a pleasantly comfortable arrival. This continued throughout my stay, a pleasant 'good morning Mr. Todd" each day helped set my mood for the coming hours of intense business. Renita, at the desk, checked me in with proficiency and kindness. During my stay, Renita was always ready to assist with the many requests and concerns I brought to her attention. This intelligent and thoughtful women was always looking for ways to enhance my, and my groups, experience. Later in the evening I got to meet the superstars of the night. Aiman, Jamar ("Teenie"), Nico, Dimitri and Jay are hospitality's finest. Their constant attention to detail and anticipation of my needs was a blessing each evening. Their care was genuine and abundant. Always eager to assist! Of course, thanks go out to Sopha for leading such a friendly and professional team! I departed with a warm heart filled with new memories of an amazing staff and hotel. The hotel views are amazing and the beds were extremely comfortable! Hope to be back soon1

so, the hotel is new and the location is in a fantastic, new development in DC w/ a lot going on. other than that, it's pretty average and not really worth the cost. room was comfortable. check in and out was probably the weakest link of the hotel. they're unequipped and overwhelmed. we waited too long for a 4/5 star hotel and they didn't have the room we reserved. to be fair they comped us $100 and $58 for valet. at checkout, it took 30 min to get our car. see if you can find an alternative...if you can't just know what to expect.

As a diamond member my expectations are high. Location is perfect, property is nice and new as are the rooms. We stayed in 1203, a little add as it’s mixed in with meeting rooms but really nice with a small balcony looking over section of water and harbor. Disappointment came when comparing $500 single night rate to quality of experience. We spend 15 minutes trying to park just to learn garage was full. Valet was efficient and electronic platform was innovative. Checkin was a train wreck with line out door. But staff was doing their best. Always super professional and with good intent. Room is good size and clean. Pool and roof deck are amazing with grand harbor views and small tiki bar. But sadly the entire amenity was closed due to private event. Seems a bit unfair for all guest to miss out in favor of private party. Breakfast was poorly organized. We arrived and we told we needed to wait for 15 minutes but most every table was empty. Again, the staff was amazing and professional but process is simply broken. And $8 for tea! Really. In the end, excellent venue as you would expect from intercontinental but execution and leadership missed the mark. I would stay again if I was going to nationals game or concert as location is great.

Valet parking burned my clutch. If you’re gonna be a good hotel, don’t hire cheap valet service. I don’t even want to think about what other things they’ve decided to be cheap with if they did so with something as simple as valet service.

We have just returned from 10 days holiday at this superb hotel. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is impressive and retains a great position on the wharf overlooking the river and convenient for the Water Taxi. The rooms are wonderful boasting all amenities - we needed a refrigerator and one came immediately - rooms have the obligatory expensive mini bar - TV Phone Hairdryer fabulous toiletries lovely towels and a very comfortable bed The pool area is wonderful great views and as the temperature was in the 30s a welcome dip in the late afternoon was just what the doctor ordered after a busy day sightseeing. The Wharf area is vibrant and lively but eating and drinking here is eye wateringly expensive. The Irish bar serves reasonably priced food for the area and the food is tasty. We used Uber to get to the city as the free shuttle was very random and unreliable plus we wanted to get to some places quickly as we had timed tickets for a lot of attractions. Would definitely recommend the Intercontinental at The Wharf just bring treble the amount of spending money that you originally budgeted for as DC is a super expensive city.
