The Cardozo Guest House is a great place to stay. Take the metro from the airport and when you get off the metro you have 2 1/2 blocks to walk and you're there. It's in a great neighborhood too. Lots of restaurants of varieties of all kinds. I'd recommend going to the Barcelona Wine Bar. Make reservations though as the place is busy. If you want to walk to the White House from the Cardozo Guest House it's maybe a 30 to 40 minute walk. From there you can walk to any other sites or you can take the metro to get to the sites. The only issue I have with the Cardozo Guest House is the shared bathroom. The shower doesn't drain very well. So if there is a hairy guy who evidently sheds using the shower before you, you may need to take your shower, get out and then rinse your feet again. Otherwise great place to stay.…
Cardozo Guest House is excellent. Communication with me before my arrival was very clear and specific. Everything was in order and very well organized. Extremely clean and comfortable room with a coffee maker, AC and fridge stocked with water. Shower is strong. Located in a cool neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Myself and a friend are grad students who were required to go to a convention, coming all the way from Seattle and staying for a week we needed affordable first and foremost. We got the Pembroke room which was tiny but we managed to get a twin size air mattress in. The room was clean and nice and had coffee which was amazing. We hardly noticed most of the people sharing the bathroom with us. The location was great we used the metro station around the corner and could get to the convention center in like 10 minutes. The nightlife was also AWESOME nearby U street is great for going out. The people who email you directions for getting in and answered a couple of questions were also so kind and helpful, we also met the housekeeper who was sweet and does a great job.
I stayed at the Cardozo Guesthouse for three days. Aside from its affordability, I was pleased that it was so conveniently located and the area was super cute. The a/c was a bit cold at night, but I closed the vent and found a second blanket in the dresser. I stayed in the Duxbury room and found the bed very comfortable. I would highly recommend staying there!
Loved staying at Cardozo House. It was ckean, homey, and very close to the Metro. Also super affordable. Will definitely stay again and recommend. 13th street has a lot to offer especially if you're over 21.
Ideal location, fantastic price. I've stayed here several times and will again. I've usually stayed in the Pembroke room, which is on the small side, but has a very comfortable four-poster bed, plenty of drawer and closet space, and a coffee maker. If you want more space, there's a whole floor downstairs to hang out in, with a big living room, dining room, and kitchen. The house is a block from the Metro and the neighborhood is full of restaurants, bars, and shops. The street it's on is quiet at night. Unless a shared bath (one room does have its own bath) or a lot of stairs is a dealbreaker for you, you can't beat this place.
The Cordoza house has several rooms ( i saw all of them..stayed in the one called " The Pembrooke" for 2 nights. Comfortable 4 post bed, fresh new linens, good closet space, coffee maker and minifridge in room, also a dresser. Air conditioner in window. Shared bathroom was clean, marble floor, stocked ( shampoo, conditionner, body wash) high ceilings and crown molding very appropriate for this well appointed and decorated loved home. Met the homeownerr and her family and so charmed. Met the housekeeper is a gem. Great communication and well organised with all directions for self access. This is a hotspot in rejevenated area. Near everything. Planning a return visit soon !
This place is beautiful, very accessible via Metro and an AMAZING bargain. The beautiful Norwell room, with a very large bedroom and 4 poster bed, and large bathroom with a Jacuzzi, was $130/night. Yup. Much nicer than other DC hotel rooms I've been in that were $350+/night. 5 minute walk from Metro stop. Very nice, safe neighborhood, many excellent restaurants within 5 minute walk such as Ben's Chili and Ted's Bulletin, plus jazz clubs and terrific African American Civil War Museum (which is incredible, and rated separately). Owner has stocked first floor with beautiful art. As noted, this is NOT a B&B - no breakfast. And the Norwell room is on the 3rd floor - 35 steps, no elevator. It has its own bathroom and jaccuzi. Three rooms on 2nd floor share a bathroom. 2 night minimum - and for some weekends, 3 nights. You need to use a lock box to get in - but directions are provided and this works out fine. Wifi is excellent. Again, BEAUTIFUL BARGAIN!…
The place was clean, convenient and well priced. Will definitely be booking again. We were even allowed to leave our baggage there while we waited for our night flight. Great service when contacted them - prompt and friendly staff.
The house is located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. The location is great just a few minutes walk from the metro. I stayed in the Norwell room, which is very cute and clean. This room enjoys an independent bathroom beautifully decorated. Complimentary coffee and water are available. When I lay in bed and watched TV it just felt at home! Wrote emails for questions and got really quick responses.
