The Tabard Inn has been my home away from home for 15 years. Each room has its own charm and peccadillos (even dog-eared book collections). The Tabard isn't for those who seek a chrome-polished big-screen TV, fancy bath fixtures, or whisking elevators. Rather its for those who seek a comfy chair to sink into, an artisan cocktail, a terrific locally...

We had dinner at this charming restaurant. Very close to DuPont Circle. We were seated in an indoor area that felt like a private patio including a brick wall with vines. I had the beet salad which was complimented with goat cheese and a very light dressing. My entree was a pan sauteed trout that tasted as fresh as any...

If you looking for a completely unique and delightful experience, you must stay at the Tabard Inn. It's delightfully weird and rustic, but also supremely comfortable. (They have the softest towels, great water pressure and excellent mattresses.) Everyone is incredibly friendly. You can spend hours walking the halls of this place looking at Tabard's fantastic collection of weird art. This...

The hotel is perfectly located on a quiet street lose to Dupont Circle. The extraordinarily friendly staff recently helped me arrange for 5 family members to share a large, lovely, light-filled room for 2 nights. My husband and I stayed in a charming but small room the following weekend. Each room I've stayed in over the years has been uniquely...

Was told about this several years ago and have gone back repeatedly when visiting D.C. Kind of funky, kind of old, but well priced with a great location. A nice small size allows for personalized service. The restaurant is excellent. Really enjoy the fireplace in the lounge.

The Tabard is an unusual experience, and quite possibly is the most un-Washingtonian place in Washington, blissfully free of that city's relentless air of self-importance. It is funky in some respects, elegant in others, and always interesting and memorable. Nothing is standardized, even within the inn; I have stayed there many times, and it's always an adventure to figure out...

We were a group of nine friends celebrating a birthday. Some of us liked the food, others were lukewarm about it. Personally, my food was disappointing: the Caesar salad relied on the "spines" of the romaine leaves and the dressing was underwhelming. I love Shrimp and Grits and didn't love theirs, sadly. I think my friends might have had better...

What I love about the Tabard Inn is that each room is unique and special, and the staff are very very courteous and go our of their way to assist. I arrived with a heavy bag, and as my room was way up several flights of winding stairs, someone kindly helped bring it up for me. It's very centrally located,...

This is a lovely hotel with a very friendly staff (especially Patricia at the front desk). The restaurant is also very good. We enjoyed the scones and coffee in the lobby in the morning. Charming and quaint are definitely good words to describe it. This is a hotel for people who want something different than the sterile environment of the...

The Tabard Inn is the embodiment of one of the best ideas of our republic—the dignity of each individual—guest, food server, chef, doorperson, desk clerk, manager. This is a gathering place for real people of all ages. The average age of the 39 people in the fireplace room one night this past week looked to be around 30 years old....
