We stayed two nights. The room was small (compacted) although, it was clean and in general, things were painted and/or refurbished. The bath only with shower is really small. During first night, people arrived to room 701 (contiguous to our room). They were just talking (not shouting) until 2 or 3 am, it was imposible to sleep. It seemed like we had them in our room or our bed. We could hear the whole conversation. Next night, this room was not occupied. Anyhow, we left to a hotel nearby (similar price, with BKF and nicer room)
Desk staff is nice and building is clean, and in a good location. Rooms are a blend of quaint yet modern too. Halls, reception, and rooms aren't large and spacious, but as I mentioned, it's clean. Bath towels seem to be of low quality, and the shower head and/or water pressure make showering take more time.
The hotel is well located in the centre of Washington very close to the White House and is good value for money, That’s the good points, the interior decor is 1980’s style and in need of a full makeover, even the lifts are looking tired and old. Rooms are a good size but basic with wooden floors and no rugs, bathroom had been upgraded with a great shower but the complementary toiletries were poor and basic. Now the bed, todays hotels tend to offer a high quality bed as a good nights sleep is a must and this is where the hotel fails badly, it was creaky and uncomfortable, every turn met with a loud creaking noise…..simply not good enough by today’s standards! Reminded me of 1980’s guest houses…. The complementary coffee in reception was un drinkable and no milk was available for the tea. Hotel receptionist was pretty unhelpful and offish which by American standards fell very short, would we stay here again, definitely not…,,,…
Superbly updated, renovated room in classic old hotel. Small, space, but perfect for my needs, and large bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Was able to stay here in easy walking distance of my work obligations for a fraction of the price of the big convention hotels. Very kind front desk staff and cleaning staff, efficient and accommodating. Only problem is internet. I was in "front" of hotel, fifth floor (504), served by two routers ("4th & 5th front"), and neither worked: device connected, but not internet connectivity. A third router for hotel rear ("4th rear") worked well enough, and my laptop could use it, but it was too distant for my phone. Fix wifi, and this could be my everytime-in-DC-for-work hotel.
We have booked the room in May 2020, Unfortunately because of the Covid 19 hotel has been closed We had free cancellations but hotel after 6 months already still not refund our money We tried contact with them, send over 20 emails - did not get back any message ABSOLUTELY DISGUTING how they treat customers DO NOT BOOK with them You will loose the money!!!@
Actually visited in March 2018 for one night before heading for Pennsylvania. Hotel was very central only a short walk from the White House, Congress and the Smithsonian. Hotel was comfortable with great shower and larger beds. No food available but plenty of places nearby. As it was the weekend I left the car parked right outside the hotel.
This is certainly a no-frills hotel. The rooms are very basic, and the road noise is quite noticable, and there's no in-room coffee or tea. We were touring around Washington DC so weren't too worried about the actual room, but would've been nice to have some means to make tea or coffee in the room (they had hot water & coffee in the room next to reception downstairs). But the bathroom was roomy and the shower very good, so all not lost. No laundry service :( and no breakfast :(, but the 711 around the corner sells quite acceptable croissants & pastries ;). And the location is great. BTW, here's a handy hint: do NOT buy icecream anywhere in DC. It's got to be the most expensive place in the world to buy icecream! We spent $10 for two soft-serve cones in the National Mall. I can't believe I paid that much!…
We got a great rate via a third party site but our view through all windows, two feet away is a brick wall! Personally I’d have bricked the windows up and painted a nice mural or had a TV screen with an external camera! However; rooms are basic but clean and appear recently renovated. Reasonably large and comfortable - you may want to ask for extra pillows which don’t come with the room. Rooms have large flat screen tv, safe and telephone. There is no fridge or coffee maker but a coffee pot is available in the lobby. Well appointed bathroom with great walk in shower. Good pressure and temperature! Friendly staff and great location.
I was on a business trip with meetings along Vermont Avenue and 15th Street. The rooms are ample sized and though the lift and other areas are quite dated, it's value for money if what you need is a place to sleep at the end of tiring day. There are a few dining options nearby and the place is close to several metro stations so it's very convenient.
This is a great hotel. The rooms are perfectly adequate in size (large, in fact, for a solo traveller). They're clean and modern, within a historic hotel. The only down side is that my room was quite noisy in the mornings, and could have done with some noise insulation.
