I stayed at this location on and off for 7 days on various floors in different room set ups, so I have a pretty good perspective of this hostel. Over all its an excellent location you cannot beat it, you can walk to everything provided your not lazy, otherwise if things are further afield you can walk to the Metro...

coodhi: Thank you for providing such a thorough review! Our location, staff (John, our Breakfast Host, and others), Dining Room and Kitchen are some of our most highly appreciated aspects. We have put in a temporary ceiling in the bathroom that you mentioned. We have a pesky leak that we're trying to fix. The new ceiling should go up very...

Very close to the Whitehouse and other popular attractions. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It is right on the bus line and it is kept clean. They host tours and activities. Very good value for the price. Safe. Free Wi-Fi.

In a great location, few blocks from white house and national mall and cheap citi bike rental right outside. Hostel was clean and well looked after and shared areas were good. We stayed in a 8 bed room and had everything we needed. Pool table and lots of space in "dining hall" arrangement as well as a fully equipped kitchen....

Iain G: Thank you so much for all of the praise for HI DC! It's always fun to read nice things about our staff, location, breakfast, and cleanliness. About the TV / Pool & Games Room, I have excellent news! That was entirely temporary. The TV is now downstairs at one end of the common room, so the Game Room...

Bvesh: I'm glad to read that the staff and location were high points for you. Regarding the two areas of improvement, I have GREAT news for you! The elevator -- we call her Suzie -- is going to be modernized, which should be done in March! Also, we are updating all of our common spaces, as I write this: new...

This hostel is brilliant with location approximately 10 to 15 minutes walk to national icons in Washington DC. It's location close to subway and bus access makes it a great point to get around Washington DC. Great Wifi coverage in the hostel and fun activities available for solo travellers to meet other travellers. Tips for improvement: - Bathroom partitioning needs...

sagidec: Thank you for your uplifting comments and for the helpful tips! Renovating the bathrooms showers to include individual rooms with doors (instead of dual curtains -- one each for the shower and individual changing area) would be a nice improvement. This is a big ticket item. Hopefully, we could make it happen in a couple of years. [Rignt now,...

My immediate comparison was to the Newyork HI and here this one pales. It is much smaller and the big disappointment came in on the activities front. Save the sole concert activity, there was none on Sunday and Monday. The rooms were decent though small but comfortable. HI does serve good breakfast and any hunger pangs during the day or night...

travellersfootprint: Thank you for your note and your very fair review. Yes, HI-New York is a monster hostel -- 670 beds! -- and they have an array of activities that is unrivaled at any hostel I have seen in the USA. We do strive to have an activity every day, which we generally do. We had the free concert on...

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Great breakfast and very sociable, partly thanks to the guy who asks everyone to say good morning in a different language! Large kitchen and nice lounge area. Good price for the central location. Would stay here again.

This place was lovely and exactly what you expect from a hostel. Decent 10 bedroom dorm with a decent kitchen, and other amenities in a pleasant welcoming hostel. I had one problem though. Oliver A: Thank you for your review and telling me about your iPhone cord. Overall, it sounds like things went well, except for your missing equipment. I'm getting too old for hostels it has to be said. But I like to give them a go every now and then just to remind myself of the glory days of backpacking around this wee planet of ours. Check-in was smooth, and we were in a room with 8 bunks. The entire floor shared a bathroom (or rather two...
