The front desk, valet and bell stand staff were all extremely helpful and courteous while still efficiently handling long convention lines. The lobby was clean and spacious. My room had a weird smell that my traveling companion did not notice in her room on a different floor. A bathroom wipe down with Clorox wipes solved the problem. (Perhaps cleaning cloths that were dirty?) The shower was in sad shape and the light in it did not work. I didn't notify the front desk, so I can't speak to that. The room was dusty and furnishings worn and peeling, but the bed was clean and comfortable. The room was not worth the price, but it did the job.

I slept like a baby and the room was so clean. I did not encounter any issue during my stay. They had gone above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met. I would definitely recommending using all of their amenities and meet their staff. They are amazing and I don’t know what more I can say about this hotel.

The hotel itself is one smooth operation. It is huge with hundreds of people coming in and out every day. Our reservation had the M Club access which is fabulous. Apart from breakfast every day hor d’erves are served everyday from 5.30-7.30 pm and drinks till 9.30 pm. However the place is open via card access all day and night with provisions for drinks, snacks, water, juices etc. The food is excellent in terms of quality and the service is superb. The space is large with access to the terrace that has great views and especially nice to sit out when the weather permits. DC itself and the hotel being in Penn Quarter is prime location for visits to the Smithsonian (SAAM), China Town, Apple Carnegie Library, award winning restaurants like Oyamel, Yardland, Zaytinya and exploring all the restaurants in China Town. The Botanic Garden, Capitol House is a couple of miles away with Uber pickup right in front of the hotel so there is a ton of things to do. Shakespeare Theatre Company is a short walk away and Arena is about a couple of miles away. You can walk there (I did) on a pleasant day easily. Georgetown has the famous jazz club Blues Alley Jazz where the music is fabulous. The food isn’t too bad either. Our room: Our room on the 14th floor was a regular room overlooking another hotel so not much privacy in terms of keeping the curtain open etc. if you’re in the room. The quilt that came with the bedsheets was in shambles- you could see the fabric inside all broken and torn. We had housekeeping service for 4 days but no sheets were changed. On day 5 I asked another housekeeping staff who came in and she said I had to request ‘full linen’. I don’t quite get that- if it’s been 4 days linen needs to be changed. Who wants to stay for days without clean linen? Is there a demand for that? There were 2 small bottles of water in the room that we finished within minutes. We asked for some water but minutes turned to hours that turned to another day. 3 phone calls later we went and got our own water. The security box in our room wasn’t working and needed a new battery, we asked for a decent quilt and some extra blankets and there was some adjustment needed to the thermostat in our room- all of this was done with efficiency. There are a couple of restaurants/bar on the hotel premise but reading the not so great reviews, we dined outside. There is a huge number of choices all around. We tried Zaytinya (very good), Oyamel (not so much), Reren (not bad), Ammathur (liked it), Rasika (hyped up a lot but Rooh Chicago is better), Del Mar (the food is brilliant but boy it is expensive!), Wasai (basic), Trulucks, Blue’s Alley (in Georgetown has excellent music and Southern food) and there are so many more places to choose from. Most are walking distance as well. If we visited DC again we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here. I would check my quilt though!

My mom and I stayed here for Awesome Con 2022 and have stayed here in the past for Awesome Con. It's clearly going downhill and needs renovating and more care from the cleaning staff. It's not uploading the photos I have but they show marks on the sheets, a suspicious drip on the dresser, and a very scratched-up headboard. The carpet was so worn that part of it was pulling up and almost tripped my mom. The smoke alarm had orange stuff all over it. And there were plenty of dusty surfaces. Will probably stay somewhere else next year.

Yes, a pet peeve. Car valet needlessly honking 8-10 times/car in and out of the structure. Bellhop whistling for taxis like he’s under attack. These are the joys you’ll have if your room overlooks Massachusetts Avenue. Plus not all of the hotel outlets have re-opened.

Stayed here for a conference. Super convenient. The staff was superb as was the room. The lobby was open and beautiful. The Ambassador lounge was also great and they had very nice food selections. Location is central to most things in DC. 10/10 will stay again.

Imagine my husband’s surprise when I said we were moving from the (v. tired) St. Regis DC to the Marriott Marquis (MM) especially since his last November stay was terrible. I contacted resident manager, Mr. Shortino, on a whim. I didn’t expect a reply. I mentioned my husband’s previous stay and that we were coming to town as my husband was attending a conference nearby. Because of the bad experience, my husband wanted to stay at the St. Regis. Mr. Shortino did indeed reply. He made no excuses but apologised for the bad stay. He offered to make things right. Something about his earnest reply made me trust his promise to take care of us and give my husband a Marriott Bonvoy titanium member welcome. The MM was sold out our 1st night in DC so we stayed at the St. Regis. But move we did. Mr. Shortino and his staff rolled out the red carpet with a warm welcome. Teddesse (sorry if I’m getting the spelling wrong) was friendly, efficient and greeted us promptly when we arrived. While we checked in, he whisked our 3 suitcases up and set them up on luggage racks! Mr. Shortino came to say hello as we checked in. During our entire stay, he and his team really went the extra mile to make things right and regain my husband’s loyalty. Slowly, my skeptical husband came around. Mr. Shortino didn’t miss a beat. He remembered me mentioning my husband’s birthday and sent up a slice of cake for him with bottles of sparkling water. How he knew my husband’s drink of choice, I’ll never know. Ampora at the front desk thanked us for our loyalty and told us we had an upgrade to a Marriott Marquis suite. She also mentioned our complimentary access to the 12th flr lounge. The lounge turned out to be a blessing. My daughter and I loved the quick/delicious breakfasts, snacks and drinks throughout the day. We never made it for evening canapés, sadly. The Lounge concierge gentleman greeted us cheerfully every morning and the ladies manning the food area were helpful and lovely. Our one bedroom suite was spacious, well lit and sparkly clean. We loved it. My daughter loved having her own powder bath off the living room. The sofa which doubled as her bed was comfortable. They forgot a blanket but as soon as I called down the next day, the butler service brought one up. That and a smile! Emma Culate (best name ever!) from housekeeping popped in early one morning because I forgot the privacy sign. She was friendly and told us she’d return when we left. No rush. She was jovial, chatty and wished us a nice stay. She always did a perfect job. I have to say the staff we encountered during our stay were all wonderful. The location of the hotel allowed us to safely walk to many restaurants and cafes in the area. Oh and even the gorgeous Apple store nearby. The only 2 things I’d mention: the air conditioning on the 10th floor, from elevator to our room door was freezing. When I notified the front desk they said it was a “Covid precaution”?? The other little thing I wasn’t crazy about was the translucent glass on the bathroom door. My husband is an early riser and the light from the bathroom would wake me up. So, apart from these minor things, I can confidently say that Mr. Shortino and his team’s professionalism, kind hospitality and efficiency changed my husband’s previous impression. His conferences that bring us to DC will see us return here in the future. Thank you, Mr. Shortino, for actually turning the ship around. You and your team made my husband’s birthday week wonderful and our stay a lovely one. The care we received from you all made us feel like valued Marriott Bonvoy customers.

I went to check in long line so returned and was asked to write my credit card details on a form because the wifi was down. Having been at the hotel for an event all day I was aware the wifi was down but I did not wish to write down my details on the paper as I had had my details stolen a few months ago. Also, I’d have liked to know the paper would be shredded or disposed of ?? Reservation staff immediately called a manager who told me to write my card down on the paper. We then had what can only be described as a “staring contest”. I was never good at those as a child. Maybe this is a new deescalation technique I’m unfamiliar with? In any case I don’t think it’s terribly effective and also it’s a bit creepy. I’m supposed to be an elite member so I hope they treat the non elite members better. Also how is it that your internet is down for two days? The valet staff are super nice, friendly and helpful and the ladies at the M club also very pleasant. I’m taking a photo of the bed as it has seen better days. I guess maybe that’s my fate for not wanting to write down my number. Valet staff you are fantastic. Made the stay honestly despite expensive fees. I’d rather stay at Hampton Inn while I got a bag of Swedish fish and a soda as my gift I liked the way they made me feel valued.

10/10 would not come back here.currently traveling for work and it’s underwhelming and gross here. Shocked at the dated and run down rooms. Bedding/Sheets have holes in them my head board is fabric and has holes and scratches. UGH WTF. There is one restaurant and the food is great, but this place needs a makeover. I would not come back, the beds are not comfortable and it’s just MEH. Not very comfortable and feels like a motel. Depending on where your room is, you may overlook the lobby bar. Wayfinding is hard, not very many signs and whole staff seem to be present but are more interested in chatting with each other. Friendly but a bit off brand.

Stayed 3 nights for a business trip. Check in was seamless. I was greeted warmly as a Bonvoy guest, told about free internet and given a much appreciated bottle of water. Had a king room. Headboard was distressed from wear and tear but bed was comfortable, pillows were perfect and the chair was comfy. Housekeeping was outstanding! Room was cleaned every day with attention to detail, and I tipped accordingly. The first two days the bathroom was stocked with individual shampoo and conditioner. The last day full-size bottles in the shower were attached to the wall. I found the products to be high-end with essential oils that really helped to wake me up in the morning. All in all a very nice trip. Kudos to the staff.
