I booked the apartment of A Capitol Place for 4 nights in September 2011 for myself, my husband, his brother & wife. From the very beginning of the booking process Mary, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. We ended up staying in the main house rather than the apartment as Mary & her husband Jim were away. What a beautiful house it is! We treated it as if it were our own home. Although Mary & Jim weren't there they left us everything we needed. Although I never got to see the apartment (it's below the house) if the house is anything to go by the apartment should be similar. The house is in a very quiet part of Washington but within easy walking distance to Union Station and The Capitol Building. I booked a tour on-line of the Capitol Building and we were able to visit the House of Congress and the House of Representatives free of charge. Security is very tight but it is well worth a visit. Also the Library of Congress is a must. All of these are free as are all museums in Washington. It is my favourite City and I can highly recommend A Capitol Place to stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Me and the missus stayed here for 5 nights in May 2008. This is not a normal bed and breakfast where your hosts cook for you each morning. Instead you are staying in a fully furnished 5 room apartment on the lowest level of their home. You are provided with all the raw materials to cook what you want (bagels, eggs, cheese, fruit, coffee, etc.) each day in a fully functional kitchen. We paid $150 a night for a place that could have slept six, and we were quite happy with the accomodations. The location is about 1/2 mile from the Eastern Market Metro station in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of DC. It's a nicely quiet, tree lined area just south of Lincoln Park that we felt quite comfortable and safe walking around to get to the Metro or the local grocery store. The owners, Mary and Jim, were very friendly and gave us a tour of their beautifully decorated home. We spent well over an hour talking to them about our collective travels and families. They could not have been nicer or more engaging to us. We would love to stay here again the next time we are in DC.
