My wife and I spent 3 nights at the hotel for a quick getaway to tour Washington D.C. You couldn't beat the location, walking distance from the mall and many of the museums. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The downside with our room was that there was no place to put our luggage and no drawers to put anything if we didn't want to live out of the suitcase. We had to put the luggage, one on a desk & one on a chair. The staff was accommodating and especially the concierge Rick, who although we had previously booked a day trip on line, helped us out with having the tour pick us up and drop us off at the hotel. There are very few places to eat within walking distance by the hotel other than a pizza place with limited seating, a deli & a McDonalds. There is a Starbucks in the hotel and a decent restaurant. I would recommend the hotel for visitors who want a clean, decent place to stay for a few days.

Clean, comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. This is a great location for museums and monuments. We walked from this location, but taxis were readily available and it is close to public transportation. If you are driving in, reserve your parking when you make your reservation for a better rate. We had in/out access for the duration of our stay.

Pros: * Quiet * Clean * Well-located * Well-stocked lobby store Cons: * Some outlets didn't work * TV took up a lot of space but didn't work * Took some jiggling of the switch to keep the desk lamp on * Hard to control the shower temp * Shower curtain did not adequately keep water off the bathroom floor (sorry for the extra towel use, Housekeeping) * No room service even though the phone still has a room service button

In DC for a conference. After the conference we relocated to this hotel. The service we received was excellent. The room was nicely furnished, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near so much to see and do. We did a lot of walking to some monuments and the Chinatown area. We found some excellent places to eat. We will stay here again when we return to DC next year. Travel safe…

My daughter and I stayed here several nights and the staff was very friendly. The 21st Amendment Bar and Grill served great food. The wings were huge. We asked if our wing order could only have a certain chicken wing and the GM was very kind and allowed us to get just those pieces we asked for. Thank you so much. I know it something that is not done regularly and we are thankful for your generosity with it. The hotel is a short walking distance to the National Mall and and other sites to see. I highly recommend this hotel for sightseeing and visiting. Using the DC Metro is pretty easy. And if you seem lost or unsure which way to go, someone will be nearby to volunteer any help or ask at the ticket booth and they will help.

We spent 4 nights here over President's Day Weekend. The hotel was very busy. Despite the crowds the staff was generally helpful and polite. A Starbuck's is connected and that helped save money at breakfast. We tried a nearby deli but preferred the Starbuck's. Our intent was to always take Metro. L'Enfant station is very near. Downside is that area is commercial and shuts down at 5pm. So eateries are not nearby. We always felt safe though walking to Metro. We did think the beds were too firm but pillows come in a variety of softness/firmness. In one room our TV didn't work properly. It was not fixed or replaced but because we were gone so much it wasn't a huge problem.

Positives: * Fast and efficient check-in by Kendall - arrived early and she offered a room that was already available though I chose to wait until later to get the room type I requested. Haidy also gave me an upgrade due to my status when I picked up the new room assignment in the evening. * Concierge teams were good: Marcus and James. * Excellent hot shower temperature 7 out of 8 nights * Convenient location: one block from a major Metro Station called L'Enfant where five lines intersected, which is only metro station with highest # of metro lines meet and one of most convenient metro stations in DC area. * Walking distance to National Mall, especially if your activities are concentrated on the southwest quadrant of National Mall. * Tourists buses like Hop-on, Hop-off, Big Bus Sightseeing, DC Circulator stops are all within walking distance. * Taxis are almost always available outside the hotel * Good room temperature and easy to adjust up and down * Comfortable bed and cozy room * Good room design with good use of space * The housekeeping did a good job preparing the room for my arrival * The hotel also did its best to help locate extra luggage rack for me which is non-standard Negatives: * Fast check-out by Genet - but when asked to provide a summary of my stay with additional customized verbiage, she refused. She could have been more patient with better attitude especially I explained why I needed it. I did not appreciate Genet's handling. * Very poor soundproof - even worse compared to most hotels in the US. But given its size and scale, the hotel was able to manage the noise level well to ensure guests don't make noises to disturb others between 10pm to 7am. * After requested housecleaning, three issues arose right after that in the same evening: 1. Cold shower (the only day), 2. shampoo and conditioner bottles attached to the wall were malfunctioning where they placed devices to stop bottles from dispensing gels. 3. Sink draining stopper was completely shut and unable to reopen. Raised the issue to the hotel and they said they couldn't fix until the next day. They offered other forms of compensation, but I told them nothing is more important than a functioning room and everything was fine for the first three days. What's essential they did not consistently deliver and tried to offer more that were non-essential or not part of package I purchased. This is the reason this hotel could not receive a 5 out of 5. Had this not happened, this hotel would have received a higher rating, if not, 5 out of 5 given how it was able to manage controllable risks effectively most of time. Other Items: * Shower stream and pressure inconsistent. It was good first three days, but after they, seems like they changed the setting and I did not prefer the new setting, but the hot shower temperature has improved and was great until departure. * There is a McDonald and a Pizza Place (they do sell salads) within the same block that operates long hours each day. There is also a restaurant inside the hotel. That's about it if you are looking for food nearby, especially after 4pm when most restaurants near National Mall are closed. If the weather is good, you may find food trucks along outer boundaries of National Mall, but they most sell finger foods like fries, hot dogs, and hamburgers, and most also don't operate during winter, or after sunset. Your food choice is very limited in National Mall Southwest quadrant area. Northwest, or NE near Union Station, you may find more food options. In National Mall area, it's hard to find "healthier" foods. * There is also a Starbucks right next door * If you need grocery, the hotel has a mini-market or you can take the metro from L'Enfant Station to Waterfront Station (one stop, either using Green or Yellow Line), and there is a Safeway (supermarket) right outside of the Metro station entrance. * There is a railway nearby, some mornings you heard trains running early in the morning like 4 or 5am-ish, some days were quiet. You heard them but not to the level that's unbearable. * There is an on-site ATM machine and also a bank called "Democracy Credit Union" in the hotel.

Overall, stay was good here. All staff were friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the rooms vent was dusty when it blew air, and windows don't open, so my partner started to get runny nose, sinus issues a few days into our trip. The rooms need a deep clean from time to time with dusting behind the bed headboard, etc. since there is no other ventilation and you're sleeping there. Otherwise clean though. It is a great location and easy to walk to places, and the parking garage is convenient. Good food at the restaurant and Starbucks is in the building. Appreciate the good staff.

No-nonsense well-run place near the Capitol. The rooms are basic but clean and while not fancy, exactly what a guest wants. Wish they had glass cups instead of paper, and their toiletries were 'Made in India', weird for an establishment near the White House. Can't they find a US company???! Friendly and efficient staff. I detracted one star for the slow WiFi.

We stayed here for 6 days over Christmas. Our room was comfortable and clean. We were on the 6th floor and faced the railroad tracks. We could hear the train bells and whistles but it didn't disturb our sleep. We were able to walk to the mall, museums, and the wharf with no problems. Cabs were waiting out front of hotel so it made it easy to get the airport.
