The White House, the Black Lives Matter Plaza, and countless other iconic landmarks within walking distance. The Quincy is at the heart of Downtown Washington D.C. Your modern space features contemporary design with striking gold kitchenette tiles and a touch-screen bathroom mirror. You could start your day with a ride on the Peloton bike in our on-site gym. Or step outside to explore the city’s rich history and culture. The National Geographic Museum features world-famous photography and historic artifacts. And we love the ceviche at local Peruvian restaurant, Pisco y Nazca. There’s so much to see and do in D.C. — you’ll be planning your next stay at The Quincy before you check out. This space is centrally located and prone to city and nightlife noise. Some spaces don't offer cable and are on the garden level of the building with obstructed window views. The air conditioning system at this property operates on heating only from October through April and cooling only for the remainder of the year. Fans and space heaters are available on request, subject to availability.

This is my second time staying at a Sonder and my second time at this location. I can’t rave enough. Modern and well furnished. Excellent bed. Beautiful kitchen. Central to everything. I’m a huge fan of the So see. I don’t need a front desk r restaurant m. Give me a great room, reasonable price, kitchen and gym and I’m happy.

The studio was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with all the essentials if you want to cook. Finally, the location was very good, at a walking distance from National Mall and just across the street there is a very good bakery. I definitely will stay again in Sonder!

Came to DC and hotels were expensive. Searched and found this place. It was early Nov and the weather out was warm. The room was HOT. Thermostat said 78 degrees. And the AC would not turn on. I messaged the staff through the app and they said that the AC was turned off for the season. So open the window to cool the room down. The room was loud enough already with street noise. With the windows open and the city noise and traffic and sirens and horns honking it was unbearable. Then, the bed. Oh. My. God. THE most rock hard uncomfortable bed ever. Honestly it was ridiculous. I literally had to look and see if the cleaning staff didn’t accidentally put sheets on a box spring. I asked the staff through the app for a refund. It was too late to cancel. They wouldn’t give me a refund. The room was so hot and the bed so uncomfortable that I just abandoned a 4 day stay, walked away from hundreds of dollars, and paid another several hundreds of dollars at a “real” hotel down the street. The room was clean, and the kitchenette was nice. Overall the place would have been a 10/10 otherwise but when your room is near 80 degrees and the only solution is “open the window” and the place is already so noisy each room comes with foam ear plugs and a white noise generator - and the bed is literally like sitting on concrete nothing else really matters. Don’t waste your money. Spend a few bucks more for a real hotel.

Response from Sonder Team, General Manager at Sonder The Quincy

Hi, your honest feedback is appreciated. It saddens us to hear your stay didn't meet expectations. We understand your frustration with the weather. We do our best to include all aspects of the space, including disclaimers about the heating and cooling on our listing, and apologize if anything was unclear. This building is only cooled from April to October and heats the remaining months. We're always happy to provide fans to help alleviate heat as well. This city area is prone to noise, so we offer complimentary white noise machines and earplugs. We're sorry to hear you were uncomfortable during your stay. If you're willing to give us another chance, our support team would love to help you find a better fit for your next stay.

The room is very good, large, technologic, clean, new stuffs... They thought about the most of the details, provided a number of teabags and coffee + other equipment to cook including salt, pepper, olive oil. We were able to walk almost everywhere. Or the metro station on the same street. Their app was super effective and they were responding quickly. The only issue was AC. The weather was pretty hot, and you're not able to use the "cool" option since it is winter month. It was a big deal.

The room is nice. However the hotel smells and there is no working AC. I messaged them about it and their response was to open the windows 4”. It’s DC and it’s loud outside at night. I am here for another 2 nights but will never book a Sonder hotel again. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Our college senior found out late in the game that he didn't have a dorm. I had him at The Quincy in a queen room on the 9th floor for a month between the end of August to the end of September while we waited for a lease to start. Overall impressionons: The Good - great location, close to everything, walking distance to monuments, and the neighborhood is nice. There are places close by to grab something to eat. I noted there's a car rental place right across the street. Hotel was clean. I liked that the front door was always locked and that the kitchen was nicely equipped (he cooks every night and he said he had everything he needed). Price was fantastic for a room with a kitchenette as DC can be horrifically expensive. The hotel was recently renovated, and the room itself was a good size. On the 9th floor, he heard no noise at all. The Bad - if you are a person who is not technologically blessed - you might struggle with this set up. Everything is remote and keyless . . . you need to be able to work the technology to get in, to work the elevators, to get into your room, and to communicate with HQ via an app if something is amiss or you need supplies. That said - my 21-year-old had no issues at all working within this system. On a few occasions he said there were some "odd" smells in the elevator that he wasn't able to identify, but otherwise he had no issues with the hotel. The Ugly - here's my honest opinion . . . if you have a simple short booking, you'll be fine. If, like us, you may need to change or extend your reservation - it was a horror. I needed to extend his original reservation, but they couldn't keep him in that room as there was another guest coming for an extended stay, so they suggested moving him down the hall. It should have been a simple request to extend his morning check out to overlap with his afternoon check-in to the new room given the circumstances (because the codes change once you check out, and I was afraid that halfway through his move, he wouldn't be able to get back into the first room to get his stuff out). It took all week and some 27 phone calls, texts and emails to finally get someone to go through a manager to get this done. It shouldn't be this hard, but that's the problem with no staff - he could have just gone downstairs to speak with someone - but there isn't anyone. They charged a second cleaning fee even though technically it was an extension of the original reservation - 8 phone calls to get that resolved. They charged a fee to extend the check out so he could move to the other room - 6 more calls to get that removed. Another fee was then applied to the early check in for the second room - multiple calls to get that resolved. Some of the customer service reps didn't seem to understand he was already there in a room. Others told me we shouldn't have to pay a second fee as he was moving on the same day while some said we'd have to pay the cleaning fee a second time regardless. The staff is inconsistent and it's not entirely clear if all of them understood the problem, but by the next morning, there would be another text advising that we owed a fee. In the end, I got all the fees relating to moving rooms waived, but by the morning of his room switch, I was ready to bust a blood vessel. While the hotel and location are nice - the customer service agents need more training, there needs to be a consistent approach to customer care, and if someone is having an on-going problem - they should be able to get someone on the phone with you to resolve it. As of the date of our booking, I was told that they can't ask a supervisor to hop on the line to resolve an issue. FINAL NOTES - in DC the air conditioning and heat are usually turned on/off in mid-October and mid-May - regardless of what the weather is doing. You might be freezing in May if it's chilly and boiling in October if it's warm (my son is currently melting in his new apartment as I type in October as the air conditioning has been turned off, lol) Also note that with Sonder's 3-day advance cancellation, if you cancel within that 3 days period it isn't a 1-day penalty/cancellation fee like many other hotels . . . you forfeit the entire amount of the reservation (that's the reason we only booked two weeks and then extended - if we booked a month and only needed 3 weeks, we'd have had to have paid for all 4 weeks as we'd have already blown by the 3 days). And that's my 2 cents :)

I can’t complain about sonder or the Quincy. This hotel experience was honestly the best I’ve ever had. Super easy, no hassle and such a great location. The price is amazing and the hotel room was so nice and clean.

Happy Stay If you want a clean hotel with good facilities in a great location and are willing to tolerate a slight noise issue from extractor fans and a communist heating system, this is an outstanding choice. It is good value. The biggest challenge was the psychology of not having a 24-hour front desk with someone in the hotel for safety reasons. However, when we got over this, and worked out how to use the app and how to make contact via both the telephone and through the chatbot, we hardly noticed that there was no person around.. General 1. The buildings heating and hot water times are turned on centrally. I noticed that the hot water did not run until after 7 am. 2. Welcoming front entrance. Looks attractive. 3. There is a gym and laundry in the basement. We never used it, but it is there. 4. The hotel is opposite Pret and next to a small restaurant. The 7/11 is just 300 yards around the corner. Positives 1. Location – the hotel is in a prime position, and this meant that we walked everywhere. Up to Capitol Hill, The White House, Arlington House, George Town etc. We felt completely central and understanding the City’s layout was very straight forward. 2. Facilities – amazing. The room is a bit like a small bedsit. The kitchen has better equipment than I have at home. Spacious fridge/freezer, great dishwasher/great microwave/waste disposal system and decent size bed and bathroom. 3. The room, and equipment was lovely and clean and the sheets were clean. 4. Coffee machine was brilliant and the complimentary coffee excellent. 5. Decent size TV. We did not watch much as the choice was not to our taste and we have iPads etc. But it is big and sounds good. Negatives 1. We would have really liked to have had another chair so that each of us could have sat down and not sat on the bed. There was a desk chair, but not a second comfortable chair. 2. The bathroom could do with a shelf to put toiletry bags etc. I placed mine outside the bathroom as the small mirror shelves were so small. 3. The outside keypad is a bit temperamental. It would not accept the hashtag sign. Some people had different end signs to their codes and theirs seem to work okay. 4. There was no view from our window. We were in room 307 and directly outside was all the hotels air conditioning units. These not only looked very unattractive but were so loud we could not open the window. 5. The room was hot, and it took us a bit of time to work out how to turn the heating off. We eventually did it, but the instructions could be clearer. 6. The freezer makes an odd noise about once an hour that sounds like a door entry phone system. Conclusion We have had the happiest of times. The hotel was a perfect base for us. We walked miles (20 each day) and saw everything we could in the time available. Washington is a World Class City and after years of watching ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Game of Cards’ we loved having the chance to see it ourselves.

Ignore the bad reviews! This place had everything we needed. Only downside was that it was a bit loud but that’s expected from a city! Kitchenette was great. Comfy bed, ample storage, the chocolate covered oreos were so appreciated after such a long a travel day! Location was perfect, easy access to the station and within walking distance to all the places we wanted to see. Not sure why people have been leaving such terrible reviews but for the price paid it’s definitely worth it! Would stay here again if we’re back in Washington. And the luggage storage if you have a late flight is ideal!

Would highly recommend this DC Sonder. Very clean, very large space inside the rooms, and the kitchen is larger and better appointed than most small condos! Location is perfect for all things near the White House/Mall Area. Felt very safe in this and surrounding neighborhoods. 1 minor hiccup that’s almost not worth mentioning, but 1 of the elevator’s Bluetooth Key entry would not work for our 4 day stay. You simply hold up your phone and the keypad automatically unlocks. The front lobby entry door has one, the elevators have one, and then your room door has one. Having the remote key on your phone is soooooo much easier than typing in a 6 digit code everytime. As I said, not a major problem, but hopefully they get the elevators keypad fixed. On a diff note, If you haven’t used one of the Birds or Lime scooters to get around a large city, do it!
