The only thing Disney about our hotel room was the picture on the wall above the toilet. Chip and Dale, I believe. In addition, our room was tiny and drab and the view off our balcony was marginal. We paid for a pricey room to...More
The Grand Californian is meant to evoke a time gone by of majestic National Park Lodges reached by horse or train. These are modern times, however, and the hotel has been long overdue for a renovation and finally, FINALLY, got it.

If you want quick and easy access it does not get better than this. We had a great pool day too although they probably missed some sales opportunities in drinks. A cabana is a good way to go at the pool.
They are just completing all remodeling, but we did not have any interruption to our vacation (rooms, lobby and pools are complete we were told). We received a remodeled room 5246, that looked out over California adventure right at the Ferris Wheel and could see...More

Pinnochio's workshop was not open when we were there. Having stayed at Disneyland hotel I would prefer to be there. I am not a fan of the Grand Californian. The rooms are small and hard to maneuver around the beds. The Grand Californian doesn't do anything extra like the Disneyland Hotel does. My granddaughter was supposed to get autographed photo and button for her birthday and it never came. The housekeeping staff was awful. I could've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel twice for what we paid at the Grand. We didn't use the direct access to California Adventure so staying there for that reason and paying double is nuts. The Disneyland Hotel is more kid friendly and the pools are better. I didn't feel the renovated room we stayed in was that great. I didn't like the open closet, the fact there was only one mirror in the place and nothing but the bed in our room so nowhere extra to sit. We have stayed at the Ayres Inn at Anaheim many times and our rooms there were more plush, larger with more amenities. All we got at the Grand was the room. No extras.
