The location of the Grand Californian is great and the pool is fun for kids but the rooms are overpriced and really need to be revamped . For $500 plus a night you are really only paying for the location.
So we have been staying at the GCH since it opened in 2001. This is our prefereed hotel when coming to Disneyland. We have definitely seen the prices jump from our first visits.
You definitely pay for the location, I just wish the rooms were...More
Wonderful staff - great food - proximity to the park a bonus for a disabled person - lovely atmosphere within the hotel - our king sized room was huge and when we ordered room service it was a fair price and great food and drink
It is convenient to stay here, that's for sure. However, I paid over $600 for one night in a club level room. I don't mind paying that at the Montage, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, etc., but at the Grand Californian? I don't think so. You...More
I enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was polite, and helpful. It was nice being able to take a park break and go back to out room. The only thing that could have been better is the pool area, there are not enough chairs...More

Pinnochio's workshop was not open when we were there. Having stayed at Disneyland hotel I would prefer to be there. I am not a fan of the Grand Californian. The rooms are small and hard to maneuver around the beds. The Grand Californian doesn't do anything extra like the Disneyland Hotel does. My granddaughter was supposed to get autographed photo and button for her birthday and it never came. The housekeeping staff was awful. I could've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel twice for what we paid at the Grand. We didn't use the direct access to California Adventure so staying there for that reason and paying double is nuts. The Disneyland Hotel is more kid friendly and the pools are better. I didn't feel the renovated room we stayed in was that great. I didn't like the open closet, the fact there was only one mirror in the place and nothing but the bed in our room so nowhere extra to sit. We have stayed at the Ayres Inn at Anaheim many times and our rooms there were more plush, larger with more amenities. All we got at the Grand was the room. No extras.
