What an amazing experience, the quality and craftsmanship of this home was unbelievable! You truly get the full experience of the era and the history around this mansion is incredible. Not to mention Alfred is an amazing chef! Breakfast was anything but typical! He made fresh frittatas, glazed blueberry scones, had fresh fruit and juice, homemade biscuits and gravy the list goes on. It was a real treat for my wife and I. We are planning our return stay in a few months but for multiple days next time. Alfred is a true gentleman and his hospitality and kindness is second to none! I recommend to anyone looking for a great experience, see some history, eat some great food and be surrounded by the beauty of this home and property should stay at the Powers Mansion. Hands down, the best bed and breakfast my wife and I have ever been to.

We just got back from a wonderful, relaxing 42nd wedding anniversary trip. We stayed in room #12, the honeymoon suite and had a wonderful time playing pool and relaxing in the heart shaped jetted tub. The bed was very large and comfortable. The room and house were quiet and spacious. We are most grateful to have the opportunity to visit with and get to know the gracious, hard-working owner and enjoy his delicious breakfast. We look forward to returning. So glad we got to stay here!

My wife and I just celebrated our 46th anniversary. I wanted to take her someplace special. When we were pastoring in Ely, Nevada, we drove through Auburn to get to California, and loved the old, gold country charm. I tripped over this place when I was searching for lodging, a few weeks ago, and fell in love! The room reminded us of our college days, in Texas. Our first apartment was in an old gingerbread house, like this one, with a tub on feet. I took her to a fine continental restaurant in a remodeled gingerbread house. Mr. Lee is an amazing man! In addition to his colorful history, he studied cuisine at El Cordon Bleu, and believe me - he learned his lessons well. The breakfast he created was simple American fare, and the best we've ever had - in quality and quantity. My wife, who is a wonderful cook, said, 'This blueberry scone is the best I've eaten.' The dining areas are decorated for Christmas, and we recommend several days to relax and refresh.

Our family is new to the Auburn area and fascinated by the rich history. During our first stays here, we spent a night at the Power’s Mansion Inn. 137 years old this year (by my reckoning), it was built by one of the first Gold Mining tycoons. These days it is owned and operating by Alfred Lee and his family. Alfred is one of the most genuinely nice, and honest, and hard working folks you will ever meet! His youngest son is working with him to carry on the family business. The Inn is a regular site for romantic getaways and weddings. Historic Inns might not be the first choice for some who prefer modern, but if you have dreamed of spending the night in a true piece of Victorian artistry, this is the place! Spend some time in the California Gold Rush! I hope you get a chance to talk with Alfred and learn some of his amazing story. He could easily write a great book about his life. We guarantee you will love him. He is that kind of friendly!

The Inn is in a great location, walking distance to old town Auburn shops and restaurants. Having been built in the mid 1800’s and being close to town it was surprisingly quiet. The room was a good value for the price. Sometimes the experience far outweighs the cost. The Proprietor/Host/Chef Alfred is a man of many talents. He has an amazing life story that I was lucky to hear. He has plans to open a Speakeasy and many other ideas on the table. I will return to see what other surprises await his guests. Thanks Alfred.
