I like visiting a hotel that feels "different" than you find in every city/state. This old, traditional hotel is 3 stories high, has very clean rooms with old-fashioned charm! Although they have free continental breakfast, I brought my own almond butter, mixed nuts, my own herb tea (and good, inexpensive wine) for my trip. I ate my breakfast on the...

First, the staff was very nice. But when we called we never got an answer, and the hotel shuttle? Well, that's an extra charge, $10 per person. Everything else was awful! When they say the hotel is historic, what they mean is the hotel hasn't been remodeled since the '30's! The carpet had large rips in it and the bed...

This hotel is old in a wonderful character way. It is probably, hands down, the cleanest hotel we've ever stayed. Rooms are small, but comfy. You can't beat the location. The have verandas on all levels where you can sit on a wicker rocking chair to have your morning coffee, or an afternoon glass of wine.

I booked our son and his girlfriend at Hotel Catalina as a gift. He was so jazzed to share a happy place with her. Saw a great deal of the island (including bison :) They enjoyed the hotel: "really liked it, no complaints. front porches nice to drink coffee and enjoy good donuts (could also make oatmeal). staff really friendly....

We stayed here overnight and the location was perfect - within a 2 block walk to all the shops, restaurants and harbor. I give the hotel rooms 3 stars because although the rooms were clean and had Queen beds - the rooms and bathrooms were fairly small for my taste (the hotel itself is beautiful though). I do give the...

This is an old but renovated hotel. We had a very small queen room on the third floor of this historic hotel with a partial ocean view. Comfortable bed. Bathroom couldn't fit two people at once. Although no one was above us, we could hear people in the adjacent room, and doors slamming. Coffee is offered in the lobby. Had...

This is not your fancy hotel. The rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable and the service is great. It does not have a pool but it does have a jacuzzi. Provides donuts, coffee and juice in the morning if you want to save some money. If you get room 111 (just across the front desk) ask if they...

Older hotel with unique charm. Rooms are comfortable. Front desk folks were very friendly and accommodating. The jacuzzi was fun and relaxing. We recommend Hotel Catalina. Central location, easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, tour information, etc.

Certainly not fancy. Basic and fine for us. Old, clean with great balconies overlooking the Avalon street below. Walked from the pier. There is a jacuzzi that looks nice. Lobby has good hot water for tea, coffee and fresh doughnuts. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The rooms are small, but if you're not planning on spending much time in there it's fine. They're not dirty, but it's a little old and musty. It's clean, you can smell the strong cleaning products. I had a room next to the shared balcony. No one else used it and it made the stay that much better. It gave...
