I would give 0 stars if I could. My husband and I booked the owner’s suite three months in advance for our first trip away without kids in 4 years. We were so excited! Except when we arrived, they claimed to have “lost” our reservation (although they immediately found it when given the confirmation number - I booked directly through their website). They had upgraded another guest to our room and refused to make it right. They weren’t apologetic and I was practically in tears. We left and went to Avila La Fonda in the pouring rain and dark. I had to call AmEx for a chargeback. Thanks, Inn at Avila Beach, for ruining our weekend.

Hotel's Favourite
We had an incredible three night stay and we really didn’t want to leave. It is such a friendly hotel, but don’t be fooled by the casual approach - everything is top notch and guest’s needs are more than catered for. We took advantage of all the hotel had to offer - popcorn, pie, beach chairs, fabulous breakfast, 24 hour tea and coffee. We actually preferred the housekeeping on request approach as the room was fully stocked with toiletries and we don’t feel the need for fresh towels each day - but I’m sure they would be provided if needed. Beach towels are freely available. All in all, we loved it and hope to visit again

We had a very nice stay. The staff were very nice. The location is perfect, steps to the beach and includes (very tight) parking. The complimentary morning lattes and croissants on the rooftop was such a nice touch. Other Pros- mini fridge & microwave in room *fun kooky unique property Cons- definitely not accessible if stairs or uneven ground are an issue for you. *the lighting in the room was dark during the day but not quite dark enough at night.

STAY HERE!! This Inn is one of the best places I have stayed on the Central Coast! The rooms are clean and cozy, perfect for a getaway. I brought my daughter with me and they are so accommodating because most hotels will make it impossible to stay. It is quiet and right across from Avila Beach. This place is incredible! Every single staff member we encountered was so genuinely friendly and kind, it was unbelievable. This is going to be our new spot when we come into town and I suggest you come check it out next time you come to the Central Coast!

My wife and I came to the area to attend a wedding and wound up staying at the Inn. It is in a beautiful location, located across the street from the beach. Our room faced the ocean and I can't describe how beautiful it was hearing the waves and watching the sunset. The positives of this hotel include ample (free) parking under the building, a wonderful breakfast bar on the rooftop (hot/cold breakfast, coffee, great people working it), a late evening wine/snack event in the main building by a fireplace and really friendly people working throughout the hotel. The bed was very comfortable, bathrooms were clean and windows were all updated. With all of the good here, there was unfortunately some concerns we had regarding safety, cosmetic and inaccessibility issues. As far as safety concerns: The rooms have regular keys which any tenant can have duplicated. The doors do not have any type of prevention device to keep the door from opening if someone has a key or somehow forces open the lock (I put a chair in front of the door so I would at least hear someone trying to open it at night). Accessibility: All of the rooms are on the second and third floors. There are no elevators or lifts so a person has no choice but to use the stairs. I unfortunately did not know this and, since my wife was recuperating from foot surgery, climbing the stairs to our room was a bit of a challenge. She was not able to climb two sets of stairs to go to the rooftop breakfast area, which was a shame since the view and breakfast was amazing. Rooms: It looks as if outfitting the room was an afterthought. There were tables and chairs that did not match. The table with a mirror top was cracked. This weird type of floor lamp in the corner could only be turned on with a foot switch. Unfortunately, the cord with the switch was behind the sofa. I would up plugging the lamp elsewhere so I could turn the light on and off by hand. There is a thermostat on the wall that looks like it operates a large wall heater. When that didn't work, I figured out that the electric fireplace was actually the room heater. the main sheet, while clean, had a large hole ripped in the center of it. This Inn could truly be an amazing location with a little more thought and time put into it. I understand it's under new management so maybe the new owners will update it a bit. All in all, a nice stay but definitely needs improvements.

This is one of the most fun hotels I have ever experienced. Quirky and so unique, all in a good way! It reminded me of treetop bungalows, with all the different levels and passageways. I loved the big, old, wooden beams in the rooms and the porch with the ocean view room was absolutely perfect. Fun, random seating areas and all kinds of decorations make you want to just stick around and experience it all. Breakfast and coffees on the rooftop was such a treat, not only because it was delicious but the seating arrangements and the view were perfect. Not to mention the free ice cream and pie! The staff was always nothing but friendly and helpful and one of them even showed us a couple of empty rooms just so we could see the differences. It makes me want to stay in each room once, they are all so different and fun. Inn at Avila Beach definitely has some new fans, and we have already planned a return trip for next year! The only cons: - The showers could use some updating. Water pressure was VERY low and the "rain shower" options just don't work. We were so excited too haha! - The breakfast egg dishes were a bit too much rice and other carbs and not enough egg. But the croissants, muffins, coffees, and smoothies were all amazing! - Parking is a bit difficult, especially if you have anything larger than a small car. But, that isn't exactly their fault. One recommendation: Maybe put a little pamphlet with the hotel's history in the rooms! I thought it was interesting that the hotel was once an apartment building.

I loved every single thing about this place. It is quirky, comfortable, friendly, and ideally situated directly across from the beach. We only stayed one night unfortunately, but I would love to one day return. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Inn at Avila is as photographed and reviewed. The layout is a bit of a maze with lots of steps. Great place to walk off the morning croissants or evening pie and ice cream. The decor reminded us of our hostel days of our youth. The hotel is located right along the promenade along the ocean within a short walk to Avila beach restaurants, cafes and stores. We stayed in a classic room which included a jacuzzi tub, two sided fireplace and fridge/ microwave. There’s also a laundry room available for guests but you have to provide your own laundry soap. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the staff here are stellar. This place truly represents the concept of hospitality. The sun deck is absolutely the best part of the place. Intelligentsia coffee is served in the morning. The croissants were fresh and flaky. My husband enjoyed a strawberry smoothie for his morning beverage. The sun deck also has a BBQ grill and plenty of space for small groups to enjoy a meal together. The evening pie was yummy. This is a great spot to reconnect with your more youthful days while being well taken care of by staff who genuinely are welcoming and glad to have you stay. Many of the restaurants are experiencing staffing shortages but we enjoyed good service and a good meal at the blue moon over Avila, a French restaurant right on the promenade with ocean views. Kraken is a great spot for coffee and located right across the way from Inn at Avila.

This is a fun, small quirky place. About 30 rooms in what looks like an old converted apartment building. Family owned I believe. Every room different, with what appears to be dated furnishings. But these people have balloon tire bikes to ride, beach chairs they loan out, serve a small slice of pie and ice cream every night fro 8 to 9 Every morning a small breakfast offering is served on their roof deck including designer coffeees if you wish. All free with if you wish a tip for very nice preparers. Across the street from Avila Beach. Our second visit already planning another
