Great place; wonderful staff. Cynthia (night auditor) is an encyclopedia of local history ; Salem (the lobby cat) is a very sociable part of the charm :) The food is super and the bar is very cool; this is NOT your 'Best Western' or 'Holiday Inn' type place .... it is very much a relaxed Southern charmer.. Rooms are clean...

I had booked a two day Thanksgiving retreat at the Gibson. Ten days before I didn't know if I'd be able to honor my reservation or not because of a family emergency. Brittney responded very professionally and sensitively to my email query. In the end my wife and I were able to go Apalachicola, but it was after a very...

The Inn has 30 rooms, only 5 were occupied when I was there. Clean, incredibly comfortable beds -- the attention to detail by the staff is wonderful. The bar is lively and Betsy is an iconic figure. Don't miss her nor the oysters or the beet, brussels sprout salad. Only disappointment is the skimpy breakfast - no fruit or yogurt....

If you are looking for fun, off beat place to plan a get-away, the Gibson Inn in Apalachicola is it! It's a beautiful historical Inn centered in an funky and eccentric little town. We recently participated in a Murder Mystery weekend at the Gibson which was so much fun! We highly recommend attending one of the Murder Mystery events. Not...

We were there on a very busy weekend! The Inn was full and it was very festive! All the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable in every way!! Beginning with check in Britini and Kimberly were friendly, well informed and gave us all the needed information encouraging us to ask if we had any...

Very unique hotel with a great little restaurant and bar. It was like going back to time, rocking on the porch with drinks in hand and meeting new people. Within walking distance from shops and many other restaurant. Very enjoyable stay in a unique little seaside community.

If you're expecting four star luxury this is not your place. If you want to enjoy a piece of old Florida and can tolerate a few inconveniences, like three stories with no elevator, then you will enjoy the Gibson Inn. The restaurant is really good for seafood and they have a great local beer selection.

In a gem of a town. Apalachicola and the Gibson Inn, are two absolutely lovely spots. The hotel is old but not tired. The rooms take you back to another time and place....and comforts remain. Our stay was brief, but we were welcomed warmly and treated like old friends. We will go back and we hope that Zanna is at...

The Inn was built in 1907 and has been beautifully renovated. The rooms are delightfully decorated. The Inn has a great bar on the ground floor. It also has a restaurant. It is in a great location. Downtown was just a block away. The hotel is surrounded by a veranda that has welcoming groups of chairs.

Second time here, love it and would stay again. The Gibson is a charming historic place right in the center of town. Rooms are clean and compact and there is a cute little tavern downstairs, excellent staff. No big frills, but has all you need in Apalachicola!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
