The Turtleman's House was the perfect vacation spot for my wife and I and our 14-year old son. I don't think there's any better view from a room in all of Belize. The Turtleman and his family made us feel welcome and we hated to leave after 4 nights of blissful time on the beach. Rosemary is a great cook...

I have traveled to ambergris caye 7 times. I have had incredible moments with nature, but none compare to what I experienced during my stay at Turtleman's house. First of all,it is a good 20 minute boat ride from town. Very remote, very quiet, very basic. I have never seen water so turquoise,or such an abundance of birds and fish,or lush jungle. The...

The Turtlemans house over the water is exactly what we needed. We were looking for a place where we could totally relax and not worry about anything. We spent our days reading, snorkleing and generally being lazy bums. We sat out on our deck and watched the sun set every evening and the moon coming up. We ate almost all...

The Turtleman's House is in an absolutely gorgeous setting, a World Heritage Site. I'm not a fan of most snorkeling trips -- usually too crowded, too deep, too rushed. Here you can wade out from the "house over the water" and snorkel to your heart's content and see a myriad of sea life in a matter of moments. Greg, Rosemary...

First, as others have pointed out: the turtleman's house is NOT for everyone, and Greg, the proprietor will be the first to tell you this. It's not a case of misleading advertising - what you see is what you get: a robinson carusoe-esque weather worn cabin sitting over the water. There is no electricity and there are thankfully very few...

There is no better way to get close to the natural beauty of the reef than to stay in this over-the-water water hut. Greg Smith (Turtleman) and his wife Rosemary are exceptional hosts. Both are extremely knowledgeable and committed to keeping the marine sanctuary pristine. Greg went out of his way to make sure our son saw his favorite marine...

I agree with everything that AJOJH wrote. I would highly recommend Greg as a guide; he is very knowledgeable and we learned and saw more on a brief snorkel with him than we have from any other experience. My impression is that you need to be very self-directed to stay with Greg. We must commend Greg on his accommodating nature...

Our family spent three days at the Turtleman's House and loved every minute. You stay in the "house over the water" which is a rustic cabana built right over the water. We saw blue heron, bonefish, eels and rays off the back porch. It's a one room house - king bed and a single bed on the ground floor and...

When we planned to take our two sons to belize to snorkel and fish,we saw the Tutlemans House site and thought it looked great!! Marine biologist and a funky shack over the water in a pristine, remote place. A World Heritage Site!! We knew it would be rough but we thought it would be charming. Web site said solar power...

My husband & I stayed with the Turtleman in July for 3 nights. We had a great time. The snorkelling was great. We saw lots of fish, nurse sharks, squid, an eel and a manatee. We could jump off the porch of the house into the water and snorkel within swimming distance of the house. The house on the water...
