Everything including the beach and grounds was clean and tidy..The room was comfortable..Ths staff were friendly and professional..First Class view from the restaurant and first class food from the kitchen..I would go back..
I found the hotel clean, staff courteous, and beach beautiful. It's in good location, not walking distance to town. Probably best food in placencia at their bistro. Internet in rooms was good strength. I would stay again.
It would be difficult for me to express in words just how nice of a time we had at the Maya Beach Hotel. My girlfriend and I took a trip to Belize over Thanksgiving week, 2014. We started in Hopkins, then to the Placencia area...More
We can't say enough nice things about this place and the wonderful people who run it. The room was spacious and comfortable, reasonably priced. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant is 1st class with different nightly

We stayed here in June of 2012 in the Jaguar Room for nine days. While the facilities and bistro were wonderful, what made this a wonderful place to stay was the people. Everyone was so friendly and approachable, Ellen and John treated us like friends,...More

There is a small shuttle airport on Placencia, that you can fly into and out of to BZE. I can't tell you about rental cars but if you are staying on the peninsula I would recommend a golf cart (yes, they are allowed on the road but be back before dark because there are no street lights and it is very dark). Consider hiring a car and driver if you want to travel around for a day or two or take a tour to the various sights. We stayed in the Flip Flop Palace at the Maya Beach Hotel (they can help with transportation to/from the airport). Maya Beach hotel is NOT a big, glitzy hotel but small, very nice and quiet (read the reviews). We stayed there for 10 days. The restaurant is the best in the area and is a short beach walk. There are 4 rooms in the Flip Flop Palace, 2 upper and 2 lower. We stayed in #2 upper, if you want to be on the beach take a lower. There is a scuba shop in town that has very nice scuba/snorkle trips (you can swim with nurse shark).

"Would not recommend the lower suite in the Dreamsicle. Neighbors can be loud!"
