We enjoyed hotel regis alot. Perfect location righ on calle de santander. It is actually walkable from la lancha. We took a took took because we didn't know where we were going. We should have been charged Q10 by tuk tuk but charged us Q40. Oh well. Alma at the front desk was nice enough to tell us what normal prices were for tuk tuks so we could challenge an over priced ride. The shower, cleanliness and space in the room were excellent. There was security in front so we felt very safe. They even kept our bags in their office before check in so we could walk around pana. Oh and the breakfast was muy rico and free!!! Only downside it's they would not exchange our American dollars if there were tiny rips in the dollar, but that was not a big deal. Overall great experience.
Beware of this hotel!! I booked a room for 3 people months in advance. I pre paid for the reservation, it was an additional cost for the third person. When we arrived, they only had a room with a double bed, for 2 people available. I showed them all the proof that I booked for 3 people, and they denied it, and still did not accommodate us. They suggested we get another single occupancy room, and pay full price for it. We had no choice but to pay for an extra room, as it was late at night, and we needed somewhere to stay. We booked another room, and they kept the money for the triple occupancy room. They are a scam and liars!! Once they have your money, you will never get it back! Even if they are at fault!! Stay elsewhere! I have stayed all over the globe, and this is by far the worst hotel and customer service!!!…
Our second time stay at Regis, and as always the grounds and hotel are beautiful. Well taken care of, and they offer the hot springs which was a big draw for us. We enjoy relaxing out there at night. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is great, right on Calle Santander, and a short walk to restaurants, shopping, and the lake. We were less than impressed by the service of one of the front desk workers Ariel. He seemed as if he couldn't be bothered to help with anything during our stay. We needed the use of a crib which the hotel advertises as available. We emailed prior to our stay to ask for the use of a crib when we arrived. Upon arrival, Ariel stated they didn't have cribs for use. When we got to our room, we found another person working for the hotel and asked if they had cribs. She went and got us a crib and was back with it and set up in 5 minutes. The next day we went and asked Ariel if we could get some glasses and ice from the restaurant to which he replied the restaurant wasn't open, so they couldn't provide glasses or ice. Again, we asked another person working for the hotel and he immediately got the glasses and ice for us. Thankfully there were other people more accomodating at the hotel to help us with our needs during our stay. Even with that, we still enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.…
Nice clean rooms with very friendly and accommodating staff. We actually made our reservation and paid for the wrong night but they changed it to the correct day and did not charge us any additional fees. The hot springs were very relaxing and enjoyable. Staff brings you your towels and can adjust the temperature. A very pleasant stay right on the Main Street but is set back in a beautiful garden so it is very quiet and private.
We found Guatemala to be more friendly, cheaper, more interesting and way, way safer than the other Central American countries that we've toured, especially Mexico. We felt safe walking anywhere, excluding Guatemala City, including night. People are smiling and unusually kind, both to us and to each other. We did the standard Antigua, Tikal, Atitlan route. The latter was the most interesting, especially when we took an extra day to go to the villages the tourists don't normally visit. And though all guides and drivers were fine, Pedro in Atitlan was the best. Special thanks to Eduardo at kimkim. He had to plan our trip 3 times (twice delayed due to Covid restrictions.) I ask lots of questions and requested many particular changes to the itinerary. He always responded quickly. During the trip he was very attentive, coming to our hotel to review things and always available on the phone. The only two issues we encountered occurred on Sunday nights and he was available and on top of it even then. In Flores near Tikal, recommend staying at a hotel on the island, not the other side of the bridge and definitely not the El Patio hotel (we were moved upon request.) The 5 star hotels in Antigua, Camino Real and the Casa Santa Domingo (the latter built around museums and not to be missed) were fantastic. Every hotel, including the $50/nite Regis in Panajachel, included great breakfasts. Tourism is still down 50% or more in Guatemala so take this opportunity to visit.…
Hotel Regis is located on the busy, chaotic main street of Panajachel, Guatemala, so you are right in the middle of much of what makes "Pana" fun. But once you step inside its gate you are in a peaceful retreat. Oh, sure, a little street noise bleeds in now and again, but I was amazed at how restful the gardens that surround the buildings that hold the rooms were. The landscaping is lovely and well kept, and the thermal-fed waters of the hot tubs were incredibly relaxing. The staff is friendly, gracious, and helpful. I'd stay there again. The only weak area is the rooms themselves, which are basic, somewhat awkwardly laid out, and in need of some updating. Electric outlets are hard to find. The bathroom, though separated into a toilet and washbasin rooms, was cramped, with a mirror placed about 10" too low for my 5'11" height. I should note, however, that the rooms were clean and that the hot water for the shower was great.…
This little hotel is one of the best we have been to in Guatemala! The staff is genuinely kind and caring as well as effective and efficient. The gardens are very special and the gardener obviously loves his work. The grounds include amazing!!! thermal baths, a sauna, a cascade waterfall, comfortable private delightful garden sitting areas as well as areas for recreation. The rooms are comfortable, clean and have all the amenities one needs, including amazing hot showers that are often hard to find in Panajachel. The location is perfect! Near excellent restaurants and the Lake edge for sunrises and sunsets as well as shopping. We cannot recommend Regis Hotel more highly. They completely exceeded our expectations! When we return to Guatemala, we will definitely stay at Regis again.…
I have stayed at this hotel several times! We went back in February of this year to find a nightmare. All of the sudden we couldn’t listen to music in our private room. The lady in charge Salma Mejia. Was rude, nasty and condescending. I honestly thought I would never experience something like that in my own country. I sure hope is not cause my husband is a black male. We sure hope that by the time we go back she will not be there or at the very least she would have learned how to treat guests.
The rooms are basic, the bathroom as well, but everything is clean and the bed is good. The real plusses for this hotel are the hot tubs and the location of the hotel. The hotel is on the main road, so restaurants are near and it’s easy to enjoy the beautiful environment from here. Even on a hot day the hot tubs are soooo relaxing and also try the really hot one!
I was contacted more than 3 times and each time, I was told I would be having a different type of room/beds which differed from what was booked online using your own website. Bathrooms looked really old.
