The good things was they had an excellent breakfast buffet every morning. The dining room looked out on Lake Atitlan which was beautiful. No street noise. Bad things- my shower flooded the first night, so the next morning I told the front desk about it. I told them in Spanish and I had a fluent Spanish speaker tell them too. In the afternoon when I returned to the hotel, I inquired at the desk to find out if it was fixed. They said yes. I asked for an extra towel to put on the floor just in case it flooded. Guess what? It flooded again. Another traveler in my group had the same problem as I did. The next day, we went to the desk to complain and ask for it to be fixed. This time the front desk clerk (maybe supervisor) got a screw driver and took out our drain covers. That night, I ran the water at a slower level and the water mostly went down the drain. The next day, I get back to the room and the drain cover is puttied in the shower. I turn on the water and had the same problem, and then I lost water pressure and had only a drip- anyway that didn't leak, but I couldn't wash my hair. Bad thing 2- There were dogs barking at all hours of the night, and people outside the building were loud. Luckily, I brought ear plugs. Bad thing 3- On our third day, we went for breakfast and all of the tables were reserved but not for us. So, why did I give it three stars? The breakfasts were really good! You definitely need to know some Spanish to communicate with the front desk.…
Overall the experience has been very disappointing. The location of the hotel is good. The room I stayed in was clean for the most part, but outdated. Only one working outlet out of five in the room. No hairdryer, no phone to call the front desk and request one. The staff is not very friendly, I am sorry to say that. The worst part was the restaurant. Very unsanitary, dirty water glasses and coffee cups, unclean silverware. The food was terrible, not fresh, with a very high chance of getting food poisoning. I decided to go off the property for every meal to be safe.
So dissatisfied and disappointed! I would NOT recommend this place! This Hotel hosted a family wedding and they provided the food. Over 30 + people ended up with food poisoning and hospitalized. I ended up in the hospital, missed my flight, spent with over Q5,000 in hospital and medicine expenses and no one to answer for in the hotel. They refuse to take ownership or even offer some type of compensation or apology. The fact I have to do this to warn other people is truly distasteful. Even the prior guest from the AirBnb We stayed in were also sick from food poisoning after eating there and they went there at a completely different time and date before us! Think TWICE before going there or you might end up in the hospital.
I had my wedding December 26th 2021, at the Hotel Jardines Del Lago in Panajachel. All my family traveled to this hotel from all over the place (United States, Guatemala City and so on). Over the course of the next 2 days my wedding guests and ourselves began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning (vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps). A few of my family members had to be hospitalized it was so bad and missed flights back to their original country. A few of the people were diagnosed with salmonella poisoning and some who were not tested for this had really high levels of bacteria in their stomachs. I am really disappointed and sad I had to spend my honeymoon on bed rest with my husband for about a week, and embarrassed I had to call everyone that came to the wedding to make sure they were okay and if they had symptoms (which many did) to get medical attention as salmonella is a serious infection. I spoke to the hotel management about my concerns about two days after the wedding and realizing about half of my guests were sick, and until today I have not been given a resolution. All the guests from the wedding went their own separate ways after the wedding so there is no other connection in my mind besides our wedding. We would have loved to believe that it was something other than the wedding that made our friends and family sick, but it does not match up. They haven’t even asked me once how my guests are doing, or how my husband and I have been recuperating.
I was in Panajachel, Guatemala, on vacation trip, I was staying in the normal room, wonderful place, the attencion is good and the eat ins´t good, the room was comfortable, the hotel dont´pool that's so bad, I woill certaingly be staying here again
This hotel is quite big, located right on the lake edge. Our room was lovely: clean and tidy; generous and functional. Unfortunately there was no significant view of the lake. But the garden and views from there of the lake are lovely. The garden is especially lovely when lit at night. The restaurant however is large and rather soulless. They have a promo video running on endless loop which is really annoying. However there is some outdoor and undercover seating which is more relaxing. The food is not special but tasty and presented with some care. Many local items. Some dishes are very generous. Service is effective and pleasant-enough
I had a great stay and the best views. In walking distance to markets and boats. So relaxing with drinks in the evening. Massage and jet skis are available on property. Take the private tour to the different towns for 25Q a person. The best shopping on clothing cheaper is Santiago Atitlan and I took the tour in the took took for 100Q.
The view here is beautiful and the gardens are just lovely! The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. No frills in the rooms. The customer service was great. They don't speak a lot of english so go prepared!
I have stayed there many times before always great service, great views, good food but food was a little expensive. This trip was the best they now have a swimming pool and the the food better and cheeper than in town great!!!
We stayed here for three nights and four days at the end of or exploration of Guatemala. The grounds are beyond beautiful. The food and service were great, a large variety for in the included breakfast. Very relaxing with views beyond compare. The rooms are simple but comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Even during a thunderstorm at night the views of the volcanoes and the lake were amazing. (We do not have thunderstorms are home, rain yes ,not usually thunder and lightning). Yes, the WiFi was weak in the room, but everything else was wonderful. Cannot wait to return.
