This hotel has a great location, beautiful grounds, and a very friendly staff. However, it is extremely loud. The neighbors' dogs bark constantly and the cat makes a huge amount of noise on the roof. Also, neighbors played music very loudly both nights and early mornings. The hotel staff cannot control the neighbors' actions, but the hotel's potential guests should be forewarned.

I stayed here for two nights last week and would have stayed a couple more days if I didn't have to leg it back to the UK before all flights stop. The breakfast is wicked, mushroom and cheese omlette was lovely and the staff are so nice. Yeah first thoughts on Panajchel were how busy and touristy it is but this place is wonderful and couldn't do enough for me. Would defo recommend basing yourself here for a night before cracking on round the lake, especially if you're knackered from the bus and don't fancy a boat ride on top. Hope they manage to stay afloat the next couple of months with lack of flights coming in.

Our mission team has stayed here for many years in this little slice of paradise in Pana. It just keeps getting better with its amenities and new rooms. The jungle like courtyard is an oasis. Their customer service is the best. It is so helpful to have front desk help who speak English. God willing, we will return again next year.

I decided to pass through Pana and actually spend the night which most folks don’t. So glad I did. Pana is bright and busy... and in the middle of it all is this sweet, comfy, clean oasis. It has lots of wood and the little gardens are amazing. You can hear roosters crowing in the morning from the neighborhood. And yet it’s so close to everything. Down a quiet side street just off the main drag. With nice modest restaurants nearby. I had room 15 which has a double bed and a twin, but the best part, a vine enclosed terrace. What a way to wake up. And just take a breather. Also the front desk is great, so friendly and accommodating. Great price too. I would stay here again if I ever get to Pana.

A very well run establishment. The comfortable rooms are set in a tranquil garden and are spotlessly clean. The water in the shower is hot, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms tastefully decorated. Breakfast in the dining room was very good. The staff were friendly and efficient. In all, this was the most comfortable and best value accommodation of our 12 days in Guatemala.

The price is definitely right for this hotel. Staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant with good English. The location is also good, close to the Main Street but far enough away that you don’t get a lot of noise. The room itself was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The room was basic, but I wasn’t expecting a lot for the price. There were some broken tiles etc. TV worked and had English channels. Bathroom had enough room to lay out toiletries. Shower had hot water but it would kind of go in and out between hot and cold. WiFi worked well enough for email and WhatsApp calls, but FaceTime would never work. Breakfast was cooked to order. Reasonably priced (40Q for a big meal) and tasted great. Overall, I would return.

I had an excellent stay with my girlfriend for 2 nights at Hotel Utz Jay early this August 2019. The room was nice and spacious with pretty and picturesque deco, well aired and protected from insects (plus water gallons available for refill out in the corridors). Beautiful tropical-style garden and just a short (5-10-minute) walk from the lake. A couple of great, unexpected highlights from staying there were: 1) EXCELLENT breakfasts (very good young chefs/cooks) ; 2) they also have their own travel agency Utz Jay inside the hotel that can arrange different options of guided tours to villages on the lake and to San Pedro volcano, not to mention shuttles from the hotel to other destinations in Guatemala (Antigua, Chichicastenango, Semuc Champey, etc.) and even from other hotels to their hotel or to other destinations further afield (e.g. my girlfriend and I stayed at a different hotel in Semuc Champey days later and Utz Jay arranged our shuttle from there to Flores, near Tikal) - the agency is run by Eduardo, who also guided us around the villages on the lake and provided a very pleasant, carefree experience (very knowledgeable, kind and attentive) - we also really enjoyed the experience going up volcano San Pedro with another guide he recommended to us and would highly recommend the use of the agency for this sort of trip (we booked everything in advance and had absolutely no issues during the trips from the lake all the way to Semuc Champey and then Flores).

The hotel was quite a good choice. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and location was great - side street close to the lake and the main street. The lush garden was a nice touch. The room itself was rather small and simple, the bathroom felt old and outdated, and our neighbors’ outside seating area was right outside our window so it was somewhat noisy. As the room wasn’t welcoming, I’m not sure if I would have stayed here for more than a night or two.

We came back this year for a second stay at this lovely hotel. The friendly, helpful staff is still there and they will make your stay pleasurable. We love the location of this lodging. Everything we like to do in Panajachel is easily accessible. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are very large and accommodating. We love the little porches and sitting areas.

We stayed three weeks here. It’s conveniently located near markets and restaurants but not on a Main Street so it’s quiet. The staff is amazing, friendly and always going out if their way to make you comfortable. Rooms are charming but nothing fancy. Certainly has a Guatemalan feel to it. Always felt safe there; guard on premises all the time. Restaurant is breakfast only. Good and inexpensive. WiFi is adequate but slow by US standards. Definitely will go back.
