There’s so much potential here and unfortunately, the management has failed to meet it. Let’s start with the basics. People inevitably plan to sleep when they stay in a hotel. If the bed is por quality and uncomfortable, the rest of the accommodations fade in the background. I stay in hotels approximately 100 days a year. By far, this place has the most uncomfortable bed EVER. There’s no WiFI. How can a hotel nowadays not have internet? That’s a deal breaker for me too. Finally, the price, in comparison to nearby places is high in my opinion, even if the bed were better and if there was internet. The restaurant was good, a bit overpriced. The pool and other amenities looked nice but I didn’t try them out. I’ve stayed at six other hotels in Panajachel and now, my curiosity about the obnoxious olive green and turquoise monolithic towers by the lake has been quenched. I won’t be back.

My wife and I stayed here for about 30 days and we loved being serviced by Clara (Clarita) & Elias. Both were amazing Restaurant waiters. All the staff is great but them two stood the most to my wife and I. Loved the Hotel & Amenities!

Highly recommend!

When rounding the corner to Panajachel this hotel stands obtrusively with three tall, green buildings that somehow don't fit with the landscape. We kept thinking, "no that can't be our hotel" but sure enough it was. Part of this hotel is actually condos and it seems that the clientele may be locals on vacation, which for us, added to its appeal. (Not the US cookie-cutter hotel, surrounded by Americans.) The hotel and the rooms are a bit dated but we overlook that since the view made up for it and we spent very little time in the room. The rooms had most amenities, fridge, hair dryer, cable TV. All the rooms have balconies that look to the beautiful view of the lake. The pool had plenty of lounge chairs, and 2 Jacuzzi's, unfortunately the one by the pool was not working at the time and was ice cold but the other one to the side of the pool worked fine. There are free paddle boats to use, and a trampoline also a full gym,
a games room with billards and ping-pong. The staff was friendly and accommodating. No complaints about the food and I'm usually picky. If you like ceviche you must try the seafood ceviche with the homemade tortilla chips, best poolside with a beer! There is a small shop in the hotel to purchase beverages and snacks, but you will pay the "gringo" price, so best to pick those items up in town. The town of Panajachel is a good home base if you want to go the Thurs or Sun Chichicastenango market and there are dozen's of tour companies booking trips. From this hotel you can get a tuk-tuk into town for $5 and head to the main street for the usual shops selling the typical tourist items. Restaurants in town seem hit or miss and the hotel may be the best bet for meals. There are 2 other hotels in walking distance to this one that you could also visit for meals. I would stay here again.

We found this hotel on Trip Advisor and booked through Travelocity. We traveled all the way from the US to the Guatemalan jungle and the hotel said they did not have our reservation because THEY DO NOT WORK WITH TRAVELOCITY! The Manager refused to help us at all and said that if we wanted to stay we would have to pay them directly, at double the rate and the place was totally empty. They wouldn't even give us the internet code when our cell phones would not work there. He said, "that is for Hotel guests only." Really?

The location is remote, dangerous and the Hotel looks very old. It is away from the town and no Tuk Tuks go there. They are frequently at every other hotel. Definitely a blessing we didn't stay there.

We had to start our vacation looking for a hotel. Very dangerous in this remote area of Guatemala. FOR YOUR SAFETY, BEWARE OF TRAVELOCITY and this HOTEL.

Excelent opinion, be careful of what you see check over internet, we are 3 builings, and only 2 of them as managed as hotel, the other are owened apartment, and usually the persons who owe them use the name of the hotel to book strangers in their own apartments. Take care, and see if you are really booking at Hotel La Riviera de Atitlán.

The hotel is expensive and offers very little in return. During our visit we were asked to go down to the restaurant to pick up our room service. At night the electricity went out in our room and it never came back on. The rooms are basic, yet they charge a five star hotel fee. Atitlan has plenty of other options worth your business.

We stayed two nights at this hotel on our recent trip to Guatemala. The hotel is beatiful, the premises are beautiful and the view is breath taking! There is also lots to do in the area...

What went wrong?
(1) it is overpriced for the value.
(2) there is no ac in the rooms!
(3) there is no WiFi in the room, if you need to work or access the Internet you have to go down to the lobby and endure the poor internet signal. On top of that, you have to handle your device to the receptionist so that they can enter the password themselves!
(4) there is a 30% charge for room service
(5) an extra "charge", a "no" or an "excuse" for everything! Even to change the chanel on the restaurant tv when we were the only guests there! If you go there thinking that this is like most Latin American hotels where the staff runs the extra mile...you are mistaken.
(6) no meals included.
(7) bad quality food....that yellow kraft imitation cheese for example!

We learned that the less "fancy" hotels in the area have internet and are better at catering to guest needs, keep that in mind!

Really bad customer service, I don’t recommend anyone to come to this hotel.. prices are over expensive for a service that is not worth it.. I pay $150.00 for a dinner reservation and when they brought me the check is was only $52.00 and when I went to ask for the rest of money back they say they couldn’t do anything.. supervisor RUTH NAGERA is not helpful at all..

We found the hotel to be quite boring and lacking in any personality or charm. There are great views from some rooms, but other hotels have great views plus are packed with charm and ambiance. This seemed more like an old-style Holiday Inn. Booooring. Other hotels (Hotel Atitlan, Don Rodrigo, and the small but charming Utz Jay, for example) are clean, comfortable, packed with conveniences and with a rich Guatemalan flavor.

For the cost of this hotel, you can do better!

(We did not stay here, but we toured the hotel and a room. We lived in Panajachel at the time, for four years, and we were anticipating our friends coming for a visit.)

Lake Atitlan is a place I will never get bored of visiting. The culture, the atmosphere of the little towns and their traditions make Lake Atitlan a must visit. The hotel was perfect, make sure you get a toom in the highest possible floor, the higher the better the view!

Then for sunset go chill at the hot water jacuzzi, best spot of Lake Atitlan. Loved the little private beach the hotel has.

Loved it! Enjoy!

DON'T waste your money. This hotel is sooo expensive for the service and the amenities it offers, it is really not worth it. We were given a very basic room (the only good thing was the view), asking if the had room service, we were told there was, we asked for a club sandwich, and then were called from the lobby to ask us if we were going to go down to pick up the food!. We were there to attend a wedding, came back to our room to rest, at 12.30am and, a party was going on at the room next door, which kept going until 2am, with music as loud as possible, which made it impossible to sleep. At some point there was a power down, there was no electricity at all, which at least got the music off. Electricity came back on at 7am, which made the music of our next door neighbors go back on again!!!! and then power went of again all morning, until our check out, so we had no lights, no tv, nothing. and the personnel only said: yes it was the wind, but you still have to pay in full!
We went to have breakfast at 11.15am, and even the restaurant was completely empty, we asked if being that we had no lights at all, during the night and the morning, if they could spare us the 15 min we were late (they stop serving breakfast at 11) and give us just something to eat, at which we were told, it was to late, and they only could serve lunch. That it was a putty we had to endure all the things that happened during the night in our room, but that they could not help us for a breakfast for two, with an empty restaurant!!!.
it is a shame we payed so much money for this kind of hotel. There are cheaper options in Atitlan (Panajachel) that offer not only better service, but much more to the rooms and food.
