We just went there for a dinner and I have to say it was much better then expected. The hotel itself is old, very would like from 1895, but the place is charming. Everything is wood, old and somehow nice. The food was good and it was worth the price. The variety is okay and the service was good. Overall,... More

Chances are, I am not writing to a big audience right now since P. Barrios is not exactly a hotspot. But this hotel...wow, it was terrible. Redeeming feature was the pool area and the restaurant was ok. Nothing else comes close to positive- dirty room, insane noise coming from the neighboring bar (I had requested a quiet room and was... I cannot complain about the hotel, staff and the rooms. For 90 Q you get a basic room, cold shower, WiFi (in the lobby or by the swimming pool) and a nice swimming pool. It is located between a nice park and Dole loading terminal, about 12 blocks from the City Dock. However, next to the hotel there is a... More

As soon as I arrived in Barrios, I went to Hotel Europa but it was full because it was Semana Santa. The owner family of the hotel was so kind that the son took me to Hotel del Norte by car!! I should admit that the atmosphere at Hotel del Norte was very unique in the old wooden building. It... More

This old hotel needs a facelift to be beautiful once again. The rooms with fans are in the old building which is dated and run down. The hall floors are slanted. The screened verandah has holes which allow the mosquitoes in. Fortunately, or maybe not, the maid comes by in the evening and offers to spray your room! The shower... More

If you are unfortunate enough to be stuck in the Puerto - as I was since all boats to Belize were cancelled on New Year’s Day - the Hotel del Norte is not the worst option in the puerto. Rather, it’s the best option amongst a very terrible bunch. I got dropped off there after the Caribe told me they... More

The hotel is situated at the waterfront in between the docks and very busy harbor activities. It has a good restaurant and a pool (We didn't use it) the shower is cold but that happens more often in these Central American countries. The beds were good and we did sleep well and didn't have a problem with the harbor noises.... More

WOW ! What a hotel . We had driven for about 6 hours and were desperate to find a hotel . The guide said that this was the best hotel in town ! We negotiated huge trucks that were queueing up to go onto the boats and found ourselves in a time warp ! incredible atmosphere . The hotel hasn't... More

First off, let me advise you not to travel to Puerto Barrios or stay at this hotel if you do not speak any Spanish. I took three years of Spanish in high school, but have not used it since. This hotel is very old and in a horrible location. It is next to a huge container port that is so... More
