Best place to stay in while traveling in beautiful Xela. Amazing location, great rooms and the best kitchen I have ever seen in a hostel- includes a stove, a microwave, toaster oven, and a large variety of pot, pans, and everything else you will need. The best part is the hospitality- warm, homey and very helpful. Loved it!

We stayed at Casa Dona Mercedes for 10 days while attending Spanish language class. The location is excellent (2 blocks from central park and many restaurants). The house is extremely well kempt. The staff is attentive, polite and friendly. We highly recommend this house for your stay in Xela.

Doña Mercedes is a small hotel with a great location and pretty decent facilities. The room was tidy, bed comfortable and water and other services run well. The staff was rather silent so I could not judge them in detail, but all in all it is one of the best choices you can probably do. I would repeat, no doubt!

A super quiet and comfortable place in Xela. We had done the Quetzaltrekkers hike to Tajumulco the night before and were exhausted, sore, and dirty. We needed a comfortable place to get cleaned up and rejuvenated. This was the place. I only wish breakfast or at least coffee was included in the price. Other places in the area around that...

Great little place in the center of Quetzaltenango. I stayed there for four months while I was taking Spanish lessons. My room (downstairs) was quiet, with a comfortable bed, a spacious wardrobe, and a small desk. The staff were consistently welcoming and helpful. The kitchen was well equipped and set up, with separate storage bins for each room. The wi-fi...

What a lovely place! We first went to Casa Argentina but the place was so awful we couldn't bring ourselves to stay there even though it was really cheap. And when we found Casa Doña Mercedes, we were so happy we didn't stay in the first place! Casa Doña Mercedes has a great location, close to the main square, there...

We stayed here for a couple of nights and were really glad that we did. It has a very communal feel to it - almost like a big house rather than a hotel/hostel. Many people had dinner together, and there were Spanish lessons going on. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we were in was massive and the...

Just one block from Celas Maya Spanish School, this place is also just one block from Parque Central, one block from Dispensar Familial, one block from Cafe Bavaria, one block from Salsa Parrada, and a block and a half from Pasaje Enrique. And a half block from Cafe Maya and Restaurant Gruen. The room I had did not have much...

It is centrally located and very affordable. It is clean and the staff are helpful. If you are on a budget it is great to stay downstairs with a shared bath. Just make sure to have ear plugs. If you are upstairs it is a tad quieter and you get your own bathroom. The true value is downstairs, but it...

My girlfriend and I stayed at HCDM for a couple of weeks while we were in Xelaju both studying and trekking. Overall we found the entire experience to be really good. The location was perfect for us being so close to the Parque, Spanish schools and of course the markets and super market too. The whole place was impeccably tidy...
