This is an old home, clean but kind of rundown. It was freezing cold. I do not know why Lonely Planet gave it an extra star. If you are looking for good value, this is it. The proprietor is helpful for advice and booking trips.

This was my 2nd time staying here. It is very comfortable and quiet. There is free access to the kitchen and guests lounge. It is an old colonial house and feels very much like a family home. It is very cold at night at this time of year although there are plenty of blankets on the bed you will feel...

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Renaissance: the house is lovely, really clean, our habitación was huge and the kitchen was perfect to cook our dinners... We really felt like home and didn't want to leave! Thank you, Marieke, your place deserves even more than five stars :) A&A

After my connection was missed, I frantically tried to send emails from the airport in Mexico City asking if there was anyway they could help me find transport to the hotel later than had been arranged. The owner of the hotel went above and beyond in trying to help me, as I really couldn't communicate with anyone while in transit,...

Great hostel, with huge rooms. We booked a room with shared bathroom, which is perfect. Nice, clean bathrooms! The kitchen is full equiped and really clean. The building is beautiful and the location is great, close to the centre, supermarket and ATM. Marieke is a great host, and the cat is adorable!

Big cozy rooms, a nice little garden to relax and a good shared area makes it a perfect place for staying while learning Spanish ore just to enjoy Xela and the surroundings. We are definitely...

Thesis the best of hostels and cheaper hotels of which we have stayed in the western highlands. A comfortable clean colonial building with large bedroomsand multiple patio and common rooms. Easy to cook and wash cloths or sit in comfort away from the noise of this fascinating town.

We really liked the private room with bathroom and shower. The place has a great atmosphere and the owner is very nice and helpful. We would recommend this place to any couple looking to stay a couple of days in Xela.
