Bonifaz is in an elegant colonial building situated in arguably Xela's most beautiful district adjacent to the Parque Central. The staff is very pleasant and attentive to detail. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed, but they lack some standard amenities. Without an iron and ironing board, one is obliged to pay for overpriced laundry services. There's also no...

If you plan to stay in this hotel you will not need an alarm clock. we stayed one night on May the 11th and at 4am you get the floor cleaner and replacement of the furniture, at 5am the traffic noise of the street, at 6am the staff preparing the breakfast and for 7am onward the clients getting into the...

Just adjacent to central plaza, Boniface has its pros and cons. On the positive side, the staff are incredibly friendly, remember who you are, and are very pleasant. The interior of the hotel is beautiful. Though I was in town on business, there was a massive off-road bike race of some kind, with cyclists from everywhere. A cacophony of noise,...

I can't comment on the accommodation (we stayed elsewhere) but we did try the restaurant, and wished we hadn't. The kitchen served the most inedible steak I've attempted to eat for many a year. To their credit, the knocked the price of the steak off the bill -- but it should never have been served in the first place. The...

This may be as good as it gets in town. The hotel was well located right on a corner of the main square, but traffic noise was very annoying. The worist annoyance was a large dog barking constantly in a fenced in yard across the street. Our junior suite was large but very dated (no clock). Spoken English by employees...

This is an atmospheric hotel with lovely common spaces ( our room was very nice, too, overlooking the plaza), but definitely needs attention to details at this price point. The in- coffee was great; the best I've had in Guatemala. However, we had limited hot water and neither the tub plug (in our jacuzzi suite) nor the shower knob worked-...

Stayed here one night with my husband and in laws. They are originally from Quetzaltenango aka Xela. The hotel is in good location. Walking distance from dining and shopping. The rooms are decent. In comparison to other hotels in this town this place is nice. The view from our balcony was nice and I enjoyed the paintings in our room....

I've stayed at Hotel Bonifaz a few times now. It's a rustic, charming location right on the plaza. The rooms are reminiscent of a youth hostel but they are plenty adequate for the patient visitor. I was annoyed by how the WiFi continuously logs out iPhone users. Also, the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered one of...
