My wife and I recently got our divemaster certification with the college of diving (dive shop associated with the lodge) and or experience was fantastic. Although we didn't stay at the lodge the buildings were clean and well maintained. After a day of diving most...More
WE have stayed at the Lodge many times and have never been disappointed. The meals, service and diving is exceptional. Albert, boat captain, and Willie, dive master are the best anywhere. We have been diving for 20 years and were amazed at how we were...More
The resort is perfect for divers. The rooms are rustic but very comfortable and clean. The dive locker was set up for all of your scuba gear and there's a breeze that flows thru, but the next dive, everything is pretty much dry.
I love spending time at the Lodge. Either in the bar, chatting to the lovely Queenie and Ivy, or on the dock soaking up some sun. This is the best place to hangout, have beer, and some delicious nachos. The service is top notch and...More
Just got back from two fantastic weeks at the Utila Lodge, the people and service were fantastic as always. I was greeted at the airport, taken to the Lodge, welcomed and given some time to freshen up before the orientation. The staff make you feel...More

Hey John, the instructors here are great! This would be a perfect option for a refresher and the dive sites here are varied so there's always opportunity to practice improving your buoyancy etc. I'd recommend taking the advanced open water course if you're looking to dramatically improve your diving and get the most for your money.

Sorry to take so long to answer your question! Utila Lodge is a scuba diving "resort". Probably wouldn't recommend for kids or grandkids who don't dive. I, myself don't dive, but my husband does - I like to sunbathe - no pool or beach at this location, so was hard to do that. The nice thing though about the island of Utila is that you can walk around the whole island - it isn't very large. The lodge itself is kept clean, meals are buffet style and food is good!
