If you don't dive, wouldn't recommend this place - only because they have one deck area with regular chairs and there is a diving college next door that frequently uses the deck for classes. No pool. If you do dive - the shore diving is...More
My buddy and I came to Utila to dive. The moment we were picked up by the hotel staff at the airport we were treated like kings until we left. Great location, great rooms, 5-star staff. Alice and Marley will ensure that everything is taken...More
An amazing place all around! We took a large group of high school students down for a week of diving and marine education! Our trip was unique as we got to experience all four businesses affiliated with this property, and they were all fantastic!
We had 18 arrive on 30 April, stay for a week of wonderful diving and camaraderie. Kisty & staff were great. Willie was an excellent dive master, we made 17 dives in 5 days, including 3 night dives. Fabulous reef, dove the Halliburton wreck with...More
Wow, what a fantastic week spent with the wonderful folks at Utila Lodge. Our group of 18 landed at the remote air strip on Utila Island, Honduras and we were greeted with a warm smile by a staff member from the lodge. A short van...More

Hey John, the instructors here are great! This would be a perfect option for a refresher and the dive sites here are varied so there's always opportunity to practice improving your buoyancy etc. I'd recommend taking the advanced open water course if you're looking to dramatically improve your diving and get the most for your money.

Sorry to take so long to answer your question! Utila Lodge is a scuba diving "resort". Probably wouldn't recommend for kids or grandkids who don't dive. I, myself don't dive, but my husband does - I like to sunbathe - no pool or beach at this location, so was hard to do that. The nice thing though about the island of Utila is that you can walk around the whole island - it isn't very large. The lodge itself is kept clean, meals are buffet style and food is good!
