My 4 days and 3 nights stay in Copan Ruinas was already mapped out before I arrived. However, the moment I entered the magical house and my room (#5), I had to change it and ended up spending more time In the private balcony relaxing and absorbing the sight and sounds, sensations and everything the valley of Copan Ruinas exudes. All of what other reviewers have said, and the five star rating this place has, are all true.

The hotel was very clean, air conditioning was strong, and plenty of purified water was provided each day. Breakfast was included and consisted of eggs, bread made on the property, and a fruit plate. There was also juice, coffee, and a selection of teas. The hotel front door is locked and you must ring a bell, so it is very safe, although I never felt unsafe in Copan Ruinas. At night there is a guard to let you in. The owner, Howard, contacted us several times to make sure everything was fine. Our room had a wonderful balcony with a very comfortable hammock and the view was nice. The hotel is located on a hill, but it is very central to both the town, the ruins of Copan, and Macaw Mountain Bird Park. When I come back to Copan I would stay here again.

Terramaya is a modern boutique hotel with just six rooms. Each room has solid wood furniture and nice touches like artisan baskets for the TV and A/C controls. The two on the first floor (rooms 1 & 2) have private patios that face the street. The four upstairs rooms have private balconies. Rooms 5 & 6 have large balconies with great views of the garden. The breakfast, served on the back terrace, is homemade and includes great coffee and fresh fruit. Overall, the four employees including the night watchman are delightful and customer service oriented. In particular, the night receptionist Paola, made sure our stay was perfect. She doubles as an excellent concierge arranging a guide for the ruins and suggesting restaurants. Overall, this was a great option for a weekend visit and the perfect location—walkable to the main plaza and lots of restaurants. My only complaint was the lack of amenities in the bathroom. Only super small bars of generic soap and Head & Shoulders packets are provided. There is no conditioner or body lotion. Make sure to pack your own supplies if you need a specific toiletry.

I had a wonderful stay at Terramaya. I stayed in a very comfortable room with a large balcony overlooking the mountain. There was a hammock in the balcony that I thoroughly enjoyed :) The whole place was spotless and all the staff were very friendly and always smiling. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. The location was close to the main square.

Didn’t research the town itself, the roads were quite hilly. If you’ve been to San Fransisco, just like that! Enough about the town, cobblestone roads are pretty sunrises. The hotel was very comfortable, extremely friendly and professional staff. The rooms were clean and comfy. I recommend staying here! Stop reading and book! Happy planning!

We booked all rooms for a weekend for our family. It was our first time all meeting (my family came from the US to meet my in-laws in Honduras) and it was spectacular. Before arrival Howard was amazing with helping us plan out the details- from food recommendations to arranging the best guide of Copan Ruinas (when we told the folks at the ruins who our guide was they all knew who he was!) to finding out information about our mandatory tests we had to take before coming home (walk-in and ready with results in an hour!) The staff at the hotel was welcoming, accommodating, and so very kind and helpful. We got great advice about food and the best way to get around town (tuktuks for the win!). The hotel is stunning- the architecture and the views are wonderful! It is very clean and there is an immense attention to detail. Breakfast was leisurely and delicious and we enjoyed afternoon coffee and the kids loved the private garden. It was truly breathtaking and relaxing. It is a short walk to downtown (the hill up is steep so definitely take your time!) and Copan Ruinas and Macaw Mountain are very close (we took a tuktuk to both) and both amazing experiences. THANK YOU Howard and staff for making this amazing time for our family perfect! We look forward to coming to visit on a future trip!

I’ve stayed at Casa de Cafe and Terramaya too many times to count and they never, ever fail to impress me. I love bringing friends and family to these beautiful places. The gardens are so well maintained, the rooms are impeccable, the food is fantastic, and the service is OUTSTANDING. Truly I think the best I’ve ever had. I absolutely love the massages in the open air pavilion, totally private with white sheets. Could not be happier with my stay.
