We loved this hotel that's within short walking distance of the main area of town. The host was beyond friendly and welcoming, and willing to provide guidance (either in Spanish or English, if that matters to a guest). She was a very important part of making our stay the best possible. The room was clean and had what we needed. The view over the courtyard to the mountains behind the town was beautiful, and the room balcony was the perfect place to be before sunset. About a half hour before sunset, we saw some very vocal macaws fly right over head every day. It's downhill to town, but quite manageable (worth taking it slow in the rain, the cobbles all over town are slick when wet - walk in the mortar between stones). Bonus: on a rainy evening, Sol de Copan is right around the corner for a good dinner of German/Honduran food.…
I stayed three nights a this pleasant guest house, and I can strongly recommend it. There was everything I needed for a nice stay -- clean, comfortable room and private bathroom; ceiling fan and air conditioner that really worked; helpful and considerate owner; nice breakfast; and at least from my room, a great view of the mountains to the west, and a nice balcony from which to admire it. It is about four blocks from the central plaza -- not far, but sufficient for a quiet night.
If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and secure place to stay in Copan, I highly recommend La Escalinata. The location is great as it is just up the road from the downtown area, overlooks the mountains giving a gorgeous view of the sunset, and is a quiet place to relax after a long day of touring the town. Blanca is an exceptional host! She went out of her way to accomodate the needs of our large group and went above and beyond to be helpful! Breakfast is delicious and place has a very homey feel. Will definitely be back!
We arrived on January 21st, 2020 for an extended stay at the hotel. This was our third visit to Copan Ruinas, and it certainly will not be our last. We always enjoy our stay with the Owner, Blanca. We stayed in a one bedroom unit, complete with a kitchen, comfortable sitting and eating area, separate bedroom and full bathroom. This unit had two air conditioners and ceiling fans, which was so comfortable on hot days. The hotel is immaculate. The backyard is beautiful and the view from the terrace where breakfast is served it fantastic. Blanca always goes out of her way to make guests comfortable. She is fluent in English and Spanish and often helped us dealing with issues that required a knowledge of Spanish. We were inconvenienced by the Covid outbreak but we were so lucky that we were staying at the Hotel La Escalinata in our comfortable unit during this stressful time. We love Blanca and Hotel La Escalinata!!…
As the title state great place, I have no complaints came down with the wife and kids to do some sightseeing and it was awesome the hotel was impeccable clean were received by owner and she was extremely nice. Rooms were nice and cozy and affordable and best of all a 5 minute walk to the downtown area where the museum the local stores and everything else is located. The ruins and the aviary are 10-15 minute away by car or you could go on Mototaxi as an alternative. Best of all the price is very accesible.
Loved this place! Very clean and quaint. Lovely decor, comfortable beds, hot water. Appreciated coming back from our sides trips to town, the ruins, etc and being able to cool down and take a nap in an air conditioned room. owner was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and filling, with a great view. Room was spacious. Location was great. A short walk to center of town, but far enough that it was quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed the balcony.
This was a lovely little hotel for our group of six. We had 3 rooms and all were fairly basic, but very comfortable and clean. We loved the location on a quiet hill with nice views. It gives the feel of a Honduran hacienda. It was so pleasant and homey. Our hosts, Blanca and Mark gave us helpful information on the Mayan Ruins, and suggestions for restaurants. Breakfasts were delicious, and plentiful. I would most certainly return to this intimate hotel on my next trip to Copan. Thank you, Blanca!
We had a very positive experience here. The place was very clean, I think you could probably eat off the floors. The host was very accommodating. The traditional breakfast were excellent. The views were spectacular.
I traveled to Copan with a group of friends and we stayed for two nights. From beginning to end our stay was fantastic. The location of the hotel is super easy to find, and it is just about a 3 minute walk from the Central Park. Blanca was a wonderful host. Before I arrived we emailed back and forth and she was super helpful in answering all of my planning questions, making reservations for me and making recommendations that fit all of our needs. She arranged for buses to to pick us up and drop us off at the hotel for each tour/trip we went on. Breakfast was always homemade and delicious typical Honduran food. The rooms were tidy, but the kitchenette lacked a few essentials like frying pans and plates. However, when I asked Blanca about it, she was able to find just what we needed. We stayed during semana stana so at night the entire town stayed up until 4am decorating the streets with images of The Passion using different colored sand. There was also live music being performed in the park and tents where the locals sold typical Honduran food and handmade trinkets of Jade which is the town's stone. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes when walking around the town because the roads are made of cobblestone and there are lots of hills. The town is beautiful and staying in this hotel gives you great access to it all!…
My husband Eric and I stayed in a very cosy one bedroom apartment for nine weeks. It had a small kitchen to cook in, a sitting area, adjacent eating area, separate bedroom and full bathroom with shower. It opened out on to a large patio that we had full use of. We were also happy to have the beautiful view of the mountains, especially at sunrise and sunset that we had missed so much. The backyard and flowers are beautiful. The Owner, Blanca, is a wonderful host. She keeps the hotel immaculate and serves up a delicious breakfast. She is very helpful and attentive to her guests and will do anything within reason to make her guests' stay a happy one. We would highly recommend the Hotel La Escalinata!!
