When we first arrived we were impressed because the courtyard was lovely and our room was clean and spacious. Sadly things went downhill from there. To begin with there was no wifi. When we asked we were told it was do to the storm however we were there for 3 nights and it never came on more than a moment or two. The water was a light brown color when we arrived though it did not have a smell. The water went out completely twice during our stay, once all night and well into the next morning. When it came back on it was the color of dark coffee. At checkout the staff on duty did not know how to actually check people out ( this was at 8 a.m) and had to call someone in to do it making us wait. Luckily we had a private driver as if we had group transportation we would have missed our ride. At no time were we offered any sort of discount for any of this. The second star is for the large room, great a.c and surprsingly good meal at their restaurant. Hopefully the issues can be addressed as Don Udos has potential but as it was our stay was not enjoyable.…
I have been staying at Udo's a few nights each year since 2013, and I have stayed in several different rooms over the years. It is always comfortable, and the staff is always awesome. Breakfast at Udo's is always a highlight of the trip. Udo and his family are a joy to know. And you must try the chocolate made on site!
Set within walking distance to almost everything in Copan is a nice bed and breakfast place. Since there is hardly any traffic on that street it is very quiet. The rooms are clean and there are nice corners where you can sit and relax. Very friendly staff.
This is a comfortable guest house with nice and clean rooms (with a nice bathroom) and a covered open patio where the breakfast is served. The staff are helpful and friendly. The location is perfect: it is two blocks from the main plaza yet not in the party zone, which means that it is a quiet spot. The Copan Maya site can be reached on foot in 15-20 minutes.
Nice staff, great breakfast but no restaurant and it's on the edge of town. This town shuts down about 5pm when 90% of the people go to their homes in other villages or towns. Everything in two blocks on this Mirador Ave. shuts down and I was reluctant to walk out at night for dinner (even though the park is only a 4 minute walk...alone on a dark street with no people is not my choice). So I think this is a nice place but perhaps not for single women?
We really enjoyed our stay over the week of New Year's in one of Don Udo's suites. It was well worth the price and the staff took great care of us. The courtyard is beautiful and a great place to relax, especially at night!
Don Udo´s breathes a wonderfully welcoming and tranquil atmosphere. It´s an old but well maintained building, filled with little details and old souvenirs from around the world, yet it´s very well-balanced. They present a concise breakfast menu but with a good variety of small pancakes, yoghurt with granola, or eggs-your-way and a typical ranchero sauce. Breakfast always comes with a fresh (natural!) licuado. We were very well received and very much enjoyed the friendliness of the various members of staff. Thank you very much for making our prolonged stay of 3 nights so pleasant :)
Very nice place to stay and enjoy Copan Ruinas, friendly staff, excellent chocolate factory tour, good food, and location. It's a good alternative to stay with your family and friends. Close to downtown and local restaurants.
I spent two nights at Don Udo's and in Copan Ruinas - and I wish I had been able to stay for longer (I missed the area once I left to my next destination). The B&B itself is beautiful with its colonial architecture, courtyard, and overall environment. The rooms were comfortable and equipped with everything one would need. The breakfast was also good. The staff, including Cristian, and several others whose names I sadly didn't get, were very friendly and helpful in providing recommendations about the area, getting information about buses, and beyond. I highly recommend staying at Don Udo's and hope to spend more time there and in Copan Ruinas next time I travel to Honduras.
I spent 3 nights at Don Udo's, which has a delightful courtyard with a flowering tree and is centrally located about 5 minutes walk from the Parque Central. They offer a nice choice of breakfasts each morning and are situated within a few minutes walk of numerous quality restaurants for lunch and evening dining. They also offer a reasonably priced laundry service, which is important, if like me, you are getting desperate to wash your clothes. The room was comfortable and kept clean. Everyone I dealt with was very helpful and accommodating.
