We just experienced the magic of the beautiful mountain area of "Pico Bonito" located just south of La Ceiba, alongside the Cangrejal River. Our stay was at a truly unique B&B nestled in the tropical, jungle-like setting bordering the National Park. "Casa Cangrejal" sits on a lovely sprawling site surrounded by native flora and fauna, rustic pathways, natural water features...

Just returned from a 2-week trip to Honduras with my family. I've never written a review about a B&B in my life but wanted to share my experience at the Casa Cangrejal. Things to do have been covered well in other reviews so no need to write about them. Karen Brooks and her husband Alex designed, built, and run the...

On arrival, I was gratefully greeted by Marcella, my host, who saved me from a largely inflated taxi bill. What a sweetheart, Marcella made me feel like a long lost friend. The accommodations were wonderful and very clean. The food was delicious, and what a setting. You'll find yourself cradled by spectacular Pico Bonito mountain ranges with unbelievable views of...

After escaping the traffic and craziness of Utila, Rio Cangrejal restored our faith in Honduras.  Karen is one of the most memorable characters from our Central America trip. She is a bigger than life personality and we could have spent many more days chatting to her about her incredible life. The rooms are simply but gorgeously done in concrete and stone,...

A very unique property - the whole place built with stone and natural woods by the owner and hostess, Karen. Fountain of youth out our bedroom door and gorgeous outdoor living and dining areas. The perfect get-away for everyone but especially Roatanians - turn off your phone and leave the laptop at home. Karen is also a marvelous cook -...

Great place. Very clean rooms, very cool in the hot climate. Expensive for Honduras, but worth every penny. The nooks and crannies on the grounds make hanging out outside a pleasure, the natural-swimming holes are terrific and much appreciated after a day of activity. Breakfast is good and free water throughout the day. The proximity to omega (3 minutes walk)...

My husband and I visited Honduras in September. After spending a few days on the Bay islands, we ended our trip with a visit to Pico Bonito to go rafting and we had the privilege of staying with Karen at Casa Cangrejal. The house is a beautiful concrete and stone work of art that Karen had built with an eye...

Karen and Alex have a beautiful place! The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. I had a wonderful massage in the evening with the sound of the water flowing in the stream. So relaxing! The back patio/bar area was such a fun place to hang out at. I loved being able to enjoy Casa Congrejal and...

I honestly can’t think of a bad thing to say about my stay at Casa Congrejal. My friend and I stayed in a room separate from the main house and it had everything we needed. Warm water and comfortable beds! The comfort of our room didn’t take away from the jungle experience. This beautiful BandB is surrounded by the nature...

Our B&B is located in the rain forest just 20 min. outside La Ceiba; we border the Pico Bonito National Park. All our rooms have private bath and hot water and wireless internet connection. The house is built entirely out of river rock which keeps the rooms a fantastic cool temp (allowing us all to live comfortably without using air conditioning). The fresh water creek behind our house is a wonderful place to relax. There are an abundance of activities to keep you busy - rafting, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, canopy tours and lagoon tours.
