Hello everyone this is a NON visit hotel. 1.the towels were like the ones we use to sweep in my house, with holes. 2.the A/c didnt work 3. Dirty restrooms , i even bought canesten to put on my feet because it smelled horrible. Fungy like. 4. The shower didnt have hot water and when I called Front Desk and wanted my money back they changed rooms. 5. I wanted to open the window because of smell and it had a fkn Screw that didnt let me open the window. If you book there dont say I didnt tell you
We just arrived home and spent 2 nights at the Excelsior Hotel. One coming and one going. The rooms are large and clean. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and clean. The breakfast is good. The pool is filled and clean. The public area does need new couches. They let us into our rooms early. I recommend 201 or 301. You will enjoy.
The choice of hotels in Tegucigalpa is small. Even less choice in the city centre. Cheap hotels in the centre don`t exist. Excelsior is not cheap by the standards of Central America, but rather cheap by the standards of Tegucigalpa. For 70 USD you get a huge area of room, breakfast, Wi-Fi. Most important for our daughter was the presence of a lovely pool at bottom, where you can swim even at night. This is true because in the evening walking in the area scary. However the day is relatevely quiet. To the centre to walk for about 10 minutes. Staff can speak English, but it`s better to do it in Spanish. It is, however, the General rule for the whole of Central America.
Hotel Excelsior is located what consider downtown Tegucigalpa on a small hilly crowded, busy street. The service at the hotel is excellent. The hotel provides a daily breakfast which is adequate and it's free. Everyone was very helpful, the bellman, front desk to the security guard in the parking garage. Let me tell you, there's security guard there at all time that opens and close the big iron gate that protects your vehicle.. I know this because some nights I arrived back to the hotel at early morning hours. The hotel inside could be updated but I love the look of the dark grain of wood everywhere. My room was huge with a nice flat screen and cute sitting area. The down fall is, there's no casino and the water pressure sucks when you're showering. .
What can i say. The staff, management, and everyone here changed my perception of Honduras. The room had a cozy feel and it was very spacious. I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Tegucigalpa.
I was for business and I needed a hotel in the middle of everything. So the Excelsior was perfect for my travel. The desk front is big and the personal are very helpful for direction and information about Honduras. The room was very clean and comfortable include the bathroom. I always look up for a pool, so this one in particular was nice, short in size (14 meters), but enough for swimming all nights and been relaxed for bed. The only thing is not so good is the neighborhood, because is nearly downtown. But if you don’t need to walk by yourself is ok. Take care.
The most disappointing hotel amongst 12 in a summer Central American tour! ] Where to start? Dark and gloomy = yes. Heated pool = not heated. Tea & coffee in room = not. Order drinks by the pool = no. One combined bill for food and drink in restaurant = no. Able to pay by credit card = yes, but the receptionist expects you to give him your PIN = no. English speaking = no (not that I hold that against anywhere, but you should be aware). The rooms were pleasant enough, and once you got the hang of a different wifi connect in the lobby compared with the rooms, that worked too. This could have been so much better
Front desk is very helpful, they have a nice little bar and pool. The place looks oddly interesting. It's old but charming. Rooms are huge! and the beds are comfortable. Food is really cheap and great!. The only downside was the location. Tegucigalpa is a dangerous place and this hotel is not in a very good looking neighborhood. Close enough to the good place of town though. Is best to be here with rental car or traveling exclusively with taxi service.
We didnt really know what to expect from Tegucigalpa and the hotel, we had heard mixed reviews. Hotel was ok, room was clean and basic. A lot of noise from the street could be heard. Staff had no English, but were very patient with us and polite. Didnt see a lot in the surrounding area we had to explore to find somewhere to eat. Only spent one day there.
The hotel itself is very nice, rooms very comfortable with wonderful bathrooms. The included breakfast was very tasty, and the staff in general very nice! Just like anywhere in Tegucigalpa, the staff did not speak any English, but they are very patient with Spanglish. The depicted pool is not really what it looks like, but that might be because we arrived early in the season.
