Great alternative to anonymous chain-style hotels in same walkable neighborhood - small and friendly, tasteful Central American folkloric decor in rooms and public areas alike, working wifi & very good breakfasts - wouldn't stay anywhere else
Booked several nights here to use as a base to do some touring of Tegucigalpa, Santa Lucia and the surrounding areas. First, the negatives - no elevator with most rooms on upper levels... and I think some fresh paint is warranted in spots. A strength and downside is the location which is in a quiet residential neighborhood with limited access to alternative dining options and services within the immediate area. That all said, staff was competent and dedicated, room was clean, food in the Cafe was excellent and reasonably priced, furnishings and decor throughout the hotel reflect and celebrate the beautiful Honduran Mayan culture, there was a wonderful outdoor patio and an additional poolside patio with food service available, inviting lobby, and business center. Beds were comfortable, water pressure was good and TV and WiFi worked well. I have stayed at 2 other hotels in Teguz and each has its own strengths and character, but the Portal del Angel has probably been my favorite and also a great value.…
My husband and I stayed at this charming hotel in November. I was only able to stay a week, but he stayed on for a month and I appreciated the kindness of the staff to him after I had to leave. The room we had was exceptionally large for a hotel containing a sitting area with sofa and chairs, a nice desk and private balconies. For a long term stay, this room was comfortable and felt home like. Everything was very clean and so large it was not crowded even with all the amenities. I loved the architecture, color and decor in this unusual hotel; so different from standard modern hotels. We enjoyed the restaurant and found the menu diverse. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit, juices and cookies set out every morning. The staff was wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. It could get noisy on weekend nights when weddings were held in the pool area. Otherwise it was quiet. This hotel was unforgettable for it's interesting details and relaxed atmosphere. A great place for anyone who wants to experience the best of the local culture.…
You will be pleasantly surprised by the charming hotel. It's definitely a hidden gem in Tegucigalpa. We stayed for 3 days/2 nights September 2018. It is beautifully decorated in traditional Honduran style decor. Very clean. One of the front desk ladies speak perfect English. The food was superb. Service was amazing. They have secure parking as well. Close to Embassy, the mall and restaurants. The pool was clean and refreshing. Hotel has good AC & WiFi..Highly recommend.
My family and I stayed at this hotel after receiving the interview appointment at the US Embassy for my wife and daughter. The hotel is within walking distance of the US Embassy and the neighborhood appears safe and quiet. The Francisco Morazan Boulevard is also within walking distance and it is filled with places to shop and eat. Reception staff received us gladly and were very helpful. The hotel is decorated with interesting art and furniture. The hotel has a restaurant inside and the food is great. The room was clean though it smelled musty at first. Once we ventilated the room, it became comfortable and pleasant. The beds were clean and comfortable. The hotel is in an area away from traffic and noise. We visited the pool and enjoyed a time of swimming and fun. The public areas are clean and inviting. Staff throughout the different areas are professional and helpful. The property has its own parking and guards throughout the hotel. …
They gave me recommendations of this hotel, but never thought it was better that what I expected. It's really nice, located near the USA embassy in Tegucigalpa. They offer parking at night, during the day you need to leave your car in front of the hotel, which isn't great. My only complain about the hotel, will be the beds, they're not the best beds for sleeping.
For a safe comfortable stay in Tegucigalpa, this place has the best value. Most of the better hotels are chains and are quite impersonal and expensive. This place is a great value and is very homey and comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with a desk for working and full bathroom. Bed is comfy. The restaurant inside is fine but nothing spectacular. I think the continental breakfast that comes included is a little lacking, but it's free. The full breakfasts were great. Internet was free but frustratingly slow at times.
The hotel is located in a calm area of the city - although not close to city center or to the main hotels area. I was in Portal del Angel for business purposes and all my working sessions were conducted in their convention area, which is very nice, including the possibility of outdoor areas for group discussions, for example. The catering service for the event was absolutely good. The accommodations are very good and typically decorated – the hotel, itself, is very charming and cozy, feels like been in a friend’s house. The gym is small but well equipped – and is permanently open. The restaurant is pretty good and the staff is very pleasant. I’ve felt welcomed the week I’ve spent there!
Excellent place to stay. Very safe and secure. The hotel staff are excellent & friendly. We were met at the airport and transported to the hotel. Our room was large with big terrace overlooking clean pool. Breakfast included was off a good menu with fruit & juices available on side table. We had an excellent evening meal with good margarita. Price was very reasonable. We will return the next time in Tegus.
Rustic, quiet and comfortable. Restaurant has good, simple fare. Reasonable room rates which include transportation from the airport. The hotel has a private taxi, charging a reasonable rate, which was able to take me shopping to different locations in the city and wait for me at each location.
