My hotel room was terrible! The walls were dirty including the entry door. There was mildew on the tiles. The shower & tub faucets ran at the same time. The bottom of the tub was dirty. The TV in the living room area was disconnected. This was ridiculous especially for a suite. I was placed in room 258 with a horrible view. My view was the parking garage. As a Bonvoy Platinum Elite member I thought I would have received a better room. In reality this room should not have been assigned to any guest regardless of their Bonvoy Status. The best part about this place was the lobby, common areas, and the wonderful customer service I received from the employees. I did receive a nice email from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience after completing my survey. However, I am still out of my points that I used to stay here. An apology only acknowledges the issue doesn't really fix anything for the guest experience.…
I wanted to write another review as I have stayed here so many times since my last review and the hotel just keeps sliding. To caveat, the service is still outstanding but it is in need of significant updating. Even the main tower, where they have updated rooms, looks dirty and rundown due to super sad paint on the room doors and carpet in the hallways. One elevator was down for the entire week and the others had a distinct smell of vomit. Ick. There was a significant leak in the gym, which is still adequate, but looks like it hasn't be truly cleaned in ages. This hotel is in such a prime location but it no longer meets the Marriott standard.
The Augusta Marriott was exceptional during this visit. I received an upgraded room with specifics that I requested. Room was clean as always and bed extremely comfortable. Housekeeping remembered me from before. Can’t remember her name but she was very accommodating and always a pleasant smile with her beautiful salt and pepper hair. Special thanks to Michael ( Augustino’s) always remembering my special drink and making me laugh. Front desk Ms. Jackie, breakfast Ms. Nancy, Night Auditor, management Bernard for always going above and beyond.
Arrived late (9pm) and checked in. The whirlpool tub was filthy. Told front desk they wanted to send someone to clean we choose not too as we really were not going to use it. The next morning I went down to find the coffee shop was closed until Jan 7 th. But also got to listen to an older male employee sexually harassing the young lady at the desk. The was going to use the microwave and opened the cabinet to find a pile of trash. One of the worse Marriott experiences ever
Read a chunk of the reviews before staying here. The bad reviews are pretty accurate. It's definitely a confusing setup. The suites are on one end of the hotel, and the standard rooms are toward the front. To get to a suite, you have to walk about an eigth of a mile past all the convention rooms. They don't recognize any type of Marriott status here. I'm an Ambassador and they should have rolled out the red carpet. They gave me one of those distance suites, and it was so tacky. The furniture was all beat up and mismatched (furniture in the lobby is all beat up and mismatched; must be a common theme thruout the property) The window faced a brick wall. Seriously ?? I requested a better room and they stuck me on a low floor corner room. Again, furniture was beat up and room never felt clean. I moved the drapes and there was a candy wrapper behind it and a white pill. They use the wood look vinyl flooring in the rooms but they had a beat up carpet under the bed. Bathroom was small. Water pressure was very strong. No hot (or warm) water from the sink, but the shower had ample. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were terrible. The first pillow I laid on had a huge Knot in it, probably the size of a softball. The second pillow had a smaller knot. When do pillows ever have knots ??? I've never experienced that before Forget about the restaurant for breakfast. The service is as poor as it gets. There is a woman named Mediera that walks around with a blank look on her face that is supposed to be the supervisor; but if she was doing her job the service wouldn't be terrible. My server brought over the cream and laid it on the table then disappeared for ten minutes. I finally had to get up and find him. Then, he told me it wasn't his job to bring the coffee. My eggs also had to go back to get re-done. If all I'm asking for is scrambled eggs well done, how could you possibly screw that up ?? They either don't pay attention here, or it must be a Georgia mentality thing. You have to be very patient and forgiving to deal with this staff. I get the feeling that the management must feel that since they are attached to the CC, they have a captive audience, and they really don't have to provide even mediocre Marriott service or amenities. If you don't need to be here, there are many other choices in Augusta out of downtown. If I worked for Marriott and was a big shot, I would have no problem pulling their flag for not adhering to Marriott standards and cleanliness. As an AMB, I've been in hundreds of Marriott's nationwide and abroad. They range from wow !! to somewhat dumpy. This one is definitely on the lower end. Stay elsewhere, and safe and happy travels !…
We were visiting friends and they had suggested staying here as it is next to the Riverwalk along the Savannah River. Parking at the hotel is $7/day unless you valet. The rooms were decent size and clean. They have the low volume toilets so flushing is a pain. The rooms were quiet. Room service is offered. There is also a nice restaurant inside the hotel, but it is closed on Sunday nights so you have to be satisfied with bar food. The hotel sits two blocks from Broad Street where a number or small eateries can be found as well as few small shops. Across the river is North Augusta, a quaint small town with a number of larger stores.
I’m 0/3 at this property. We have attended a convention here for the last 3 years here and had generally poor experiences every year. The staff is usually friendly but this year there was a security guard who took his job very seriously and was very diligent about harassing the convention guests. He ran folks out of the hallway during the after hours events, never been an issue in the past. Ran families out of the outdoor pool at 10:00, no pool hours posted and has never been an issue in the past. That leaves the dirty, run down inside pool, yuck. Marriot has been pushing me to download their app so you can check in through the app and skip the front desk, nope still have to go stand in line to get keys. I also requested an extra pillow and blanket on the app at check in, nope. Good luck getting a luggage cart, they only have a couple and the bell hops guard them like the security guard watches that pool. Room was sort of clean, an improvement over the past. There was a used contact lens stuck to the sheets, hopefully that was from the laundry… 1 regular coffee and 3 decafs. I message the service for some more through the much ballyhooed app, quick response and then they never bring them. If Marriot is going to keep using COVID as an excuse to provide less service at the same price, maybe stock the rooms better? I don’t know if I will attend the convention next year, this hotel although reasonably priced and convenient to the convention center is always a mess and having 1 employee bug us while the rest can’t seem to do basic hotel functions really makes a mediocre experience frustrating.…
We spent one night (on points) at this Marriott, as we were in town for a funeral. Not a very happy occasion, but all of the staff made our stay very pleasant. They were all so nice and professional. The bell staff, the check in and all of the people that asked us if we needed help while trying to find the indoor pool. We asked for a late checkout and we got the latest checkout I've ever been offered! The indoor pool was nice and warm and so soothing. The hot tub was nice and hot. The room was clean and comfortable. We had vouchers for breakfast, as we are Platinum Elite. Thank you to all that created a 5 Star Stay for my husband and I.
We attended a conference at this hotel. The room was the dirtiest we have ever encountered. The floor was filthy and there was dust on every surface. I titled this mixed as the staff we encountered could not have been nicer. While the conference meals were as expected and not very good, the staff was super. The location was excellent and access to the river esplanade was great.
Nice location on the river walk in downtown. Clean rooms, though adjoining rooms tend to get a lot of noise from the neighbors. Valet or self park in garage available. No titanium elite upgrade even though the hotel was near empty and this was my third stay. Restaurant is cool and staff awesome.
