This Riad is absolutely stunning. The staff were so inviting and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location is amazing, just inside the old medina. I truly felt like I was walking into a Palace. The rooms and architecture are beautiful, and let me not forget the rooftop bar that offered an excellent view of Fez. It was our first time in fez, so we didn’t really know how to tour the city, they were kind enough to hire us a guide, Mohammed Bousfiha, who really strived to show us the hidden places in the Old Medina and showed us the charm of the city. I’ve traveled a lot but I can confidently say that this has been my best experience so far!!

The interior property of Riad Mayfez is absolutely amazing! Truly old charm. There are only six suites. The rooms are beautiful. Really stunning! The staff is amazing, top notch. They were there for my every request. Celebrated wife's 50th birthday. They went above and beyond to make it truly special for her. Brought her to tears. Dining room on property. We had trouble ordering food one night. Staff came together to prepare a last second meal. Staff was very accommodating to our every needs. Inmand, SiMohhamed, and the your lady that I had trouble pronouncing her name we fabulous! There were only a few things that I did not like. 1st was the location within the Medina. The Riad is a little deep in the Medina and it's really easy to get lost. Secondly, a lot of pigeons were around the property. The pigeons would fly down to the pool to drink. Not sure what the property can do about it. It was one of the reasons we did not get in the pool. Lastly, bees, there were also bees flying around the pool and drinking from the pool. Again, not sure what the community could do, but if there is something it would make the pool experience that much more enjoyable. Overall my wife and I had a marvelous stay at Mayfez and believe it to be the best property in the Medina from what we saw. Don't miss out on it.

Dear Adell, We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us, despite the pandemic. We were very happy to host American guests for the first time since March 2020. The riad is located in the very heart of the touristic area, where most of the riads are located. Bab Boujloud is about 15 minutes away and the bazar from Taalah Seghrira is just one minute away. But getting lost in the streets is easy task, for sure. As for pigeons, we have electrified fences all around the building to prevent the pigeons from remaining on the roof. It has proved very efficient, unfortunately we can not prevent them from drinking in the pool, which occurs mainly in summer when the weather is very hot. Yet, swimming is safe, as the pool is being checked and treated daily and we keep a record. We organise pest treatment twice a year especially before summer, to reduce the nuisance of flyes and bees, that are also more keen to fly around in the hot summer, but they are part of our ecosystem and we do not spray daily, in order to be, some how, a little « eco responsable ». Looking forward to greeting you again in the future. Sincerely, Dominique Owner/manager Riad Mayfez

Stay here if you are searching for some boutique luxury attached to your Riad experience. Set higher up within the Médina, Riad Mayfez feels like a grand old mansion. We (a couple 30-40yrs) stayed in February for four night. This riad is delightful - especially the concierge team who were exceptional. One feature we really liked was being issued with a hotel cell phone. This was in case we got lost in the Médina, someone would come and collected us. We never used it, but it was a thoughtful safety net. On the whole the Riad is generally well looked after, but being in the Médina it does have some dusty worn parts if you try and look too closely. The facilities are good and include a swimming pool, billiards and board games. Having drinks on the roof and watching the sun go down on the Médina is also a special touch. Two top Fes restaurants are also very close by (the ruined garden and Fes cafe). The bedrooms are well appointed, and the spa facilities looked wonderful (though coming from Marrakesh and it’s hammams we didn’t make use of it here.) The breakfast was good for us (a mix of fruits, pastries and eggs your way). The coffee was also delicious. We took advantage of a guided tour one day arranged by the hotel. It ended up not being our thing as we are pretty independent travelers so we could have done without it. Though if you were nervous about being hassled by vendors, or getting lost and not seeing everything, I’d recommend it. Overall it’s a great place to choose if you are looking for something extra in your Riad experience.
