We were very disappointed with Riad el Kasbah in almost every way. We wrote that we would be arriving at the Riad around 7:30 a.m. for our three night stay because we took the night train from Marakesh, but when we got there, no one...More
This is a fantastic, family run, historic gem that has been updated and upgraded for comfort at an affordable price. If you love the feel of beautiful old buildings with dark hardwood floors and large shuttered windows in high-ceilinged rooms this is the place for...More
This four story building (no elevator) is more of a hotel than a Riad. The rooms were nice and large, however, there is some kind of cafe adjacent to the hotel and it was very noisy at night. The hotel has a large patio which...More
I think this hotel offers the most you can get for the money in whole Tangier. Staff is excellent and very helpful with every task. I recommend to have their breakfast, it is huge, yummy and pays off well! For dinner I can, as others...More
We stayed here two nights and it is a charming little place. It is centrally situated in the medina and you can easily walk to lots of interesting places in the medina and also the American Legation and Cafe Hafa and the cliffs. It's a...More

The American clearly was looking for an up-market place. Plenty of those in Tangier. The Dar does not claim to be that. His main problem seems to have been the taxi driver not the hotel staff. Taxi drivers from the airport are out to make a buck, not to be helpful. They want extra to drop you away from the centre (Place de France). I was happy to walk but I did not have much luggage and I know old Tangier well. Best for most folks to pay the extra (just a couple of dollars) for trouble free arrival. The cafe next to the Dar can be a problem so tell the staff you want a room away from it. They were happy to move me when I complained. I maintain that this is a great place to stay and the staff are great.
