We travelled as an extended family to the serengeti mara bushcamp and soaked up three fantastic days of traversing the grassy plains in comfortable and reliable open-air 4-wheel drives, getting close to Topi, gazelle, impala, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, ostrich, herds of elephant and giraffe, hyena...and unsettling close to lion (certainly for this little white boy from the suburbs, though we...

The Serengeti Mara Camp was very special. Most charming staff, a lovely welcome, good tents and good food. We loved the isolation and the game was prolific, lions with cubs, many elephants, hippos, hyenas and wildebeest. One early morning game drive in super comfortable safari jeeps took us to a picnic under the trees with giraffes and zebras just a...

Our experience at serengeti mara camp was simply epic...with freedom to go anywhere, anytime, in pristine isolation, freedom we later learned is not enjoyed at other camps and regions, to have the very best guide raphile...what a legend, who truly inspired, educated and treated us on the wonders of Africa, awesome, abundant and diverse wildlife, to be welcomed by ray...

We stayd in the Mara camp for 4 nights and we loved every minute of it. The atmosfhere is unique, very quiet and remote... We didt see almost any cars. Vera the manager is a unbelaveble capable manager, she knows everything about the wildlife and the plants etc... We were the only guests at that moment but with Vera we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Uniquely situated in the northern reaches of the Serengeti National Park, and with unrivaled access to the short grass plains adjacent to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, sits the Lamai Wedge. This slice of Africa has just one camp: The Serengeti Mara Camp. Here AfrikaAfrika offers a tailor made, private wildlife experience in one of the last true wilderness areas of Africa. The area is quiet and peaceful, with abundant game, and no people. Our small, discreet, classic mobile camp operates in a socially and environmentally responsible way, placing a minimal human footprint. It is our vision to see African natural environments protected and local communities develop through good stewardship and revenues generated by responsible tourism. The Northern Serengeti is renowned for its shear size, primeval landscapes and large populations of plains game that seasonally migrate to follow the nutritious pastures. It has become famous for the migration of millions of wildebeest and the viewing of dramatic river crossings, which occur close to our camp. The sheer density of wildlife makes it also a predator haven with frequent sightings of lion, leopard and cheetah. Predator interaction is common. Resident game is prolific even when the migration is not present making the Lamai Wedge an all year round destination, as the Maasai Mara. Year-round birding is superb. The stark beauty of the western escarpment and the open short grass plains provides a great backdrop to wildlife viewing. Sitting amidst this ancient and sacred land between two of conservation's great success stories, Serengeti Mara Camp provides an exclusive mobile camp experience - quiet, beautiful, remote. Sights, smells and sounds remind you this is a slice of paradise on earth. But the most magical moment at Serengeti Mara Camp might just be the sunrises from the little outdoor seating area in front of your tent. Here Africa will remind you that this is the land that will always attract those who still dream. ... more   less
