To be honest, I really don't want to share this info, it was that good... We happened to find this hotel (Aug 2007) and stayed there for 3 nights. The room was not so big for two, but could sense the history of good ol' days from the furniture or the interior design of this building. The best part I...

Just interesting, I don't know why. Almost all the taxi drivers don't know this hotel (even we show them the address). It is a nice hotel with passenger lift but NO TV in room (you can watch TV in the common room in the Ground Floor). Our room is facing the main street that the Metro is running , we...

We found this place via Lonely Planet and it didn;t disappoint. It's a great hotel, with free wifi in the lobby and helpful staff, particularly if you are there at the right time of day (some staff don't speak a lot of English). From here you can walk pretty easily to the medina and the souks, can visit some of...

This is a very well run , modest hotel. It is clean, has friendly and helpful staff, it is safe and it is situated smack bang in the middle of Tunis. It is extremely good value for money and the restaurant is pleasant, with cheap and edible food. It is a thoroughly decent place. It has free wifi. It is...

La Maison Doree was the first place my friend and I stayed when visiting Tunisia--and it was one of the better mid-range places we stayed. The Building itself was a little run down on a random side street, but ok for the area. The staff was friendly and helpful--basic french should get you by, but they also spoke a little...

Situated in a good location in nouvelle Tunis within a 10 minute walk of the Medina and cafes on Avenue Bougiba. Old French building in need of a refurbishment but clean and spacious. Not much sound insulation so take your ear plugs. Breakfast basic. No frills. Staff quite helpful but only one receptionist spoke English. Very little tourist information at...

Stayed here on our way to and from the desert, 3 nights in total. The second room (for 2 nights ) was better than the first. We paid £10 per person per night including breakfast. Rooms were basic but clean and had everything you needed, towels changed every day Staff were very helpful and friendly, helped that we speak French...

I stayed at the Maison Doree for a week and found the hotel charming. It isn't a 4 star standard but what it lacks in grandeur it makes up for in friendly and accommodating staff who are a delight. My room was large with a balcony - noisy but bearable. The hotel is perfect for exploring the Medina and other...

We have stayed twice at the Maison Doree, and the rooms are spacious, clean and there is always plenty of hot water. the hotel staff are friendly and helpful, the continenatal breakfast is good, and can be brought to your room without charge. The restaurant too is excellent value, with waiters dressed in a manner reminiscent of an Italian Trattoria...

Maison Doree is well located, close to the train station and Ave Habib Bourguiba, and is safe and well-kept. Most of the guests were French during my stay, and reception speaks French and possibly some English. Breakfast is decent, the room was sizeable with a good-size bathroom and had plenty of storage space. I'd guess it was built in the...
