Good Hotel with small but clean single rooms with hot water. The Wi-Fi worked in my room and I had a tv with few international channels The food is very nice even if you try the local dishes ,, I really like it The only thing I could not understand when they asked to keep my passport in the reception...

I stayed for 4 days. The price is reasonable for Addis Ababa - USD 50/night for a single room with breakfast. I was on the street side, so it can be a bit noisy. I would agree that it is a bit run down...but the rooms are clean, I had running hot water and getting laundry done was relatively inexpensive....

Stayed there twice over a two year period of time with mission group from church. Rooms were adequate and we appreciated the cleanliness, flush toilets and hot showers. Towels are thin, so bring your own if you want the thick ones you may have at home. Rooms are small, but this isn't a place you spend much time in your...

I know why I am always back to the Semien Hotel :I feel home. They tell me "welcome back Francesco"and they smile, from the manager to the receptionists to all the waiters. And because of the huge ,free, international breakfasts I can have even in my bed.And when I ask extra special eggs but "5 minutes boiled"I am sure that in the...

I stayed at this hotel in 2005, 2010 and Dec2013/Jan2014. The quality and reliability of the service has declined over the years. My last stay was a nightmare. I was assigned a room on the 6th floor. Upon inspecting it I found the toilet flush had broken. I asked a room change and was offered another room on the 3rd...

The hotel meets the barest essentials - clean white towels and sheets changed everyday. The breakfast selection was poor and didn't change most of my stay. Internet (free) is only available at the lobby and not in the rooms. It tends to be very slow during the day but can be quite fast at night. Had diner (buffet) once at...

After three months of traveling and doing fieldwork in southwestern Ethiopia, I needed a place to stay in Addis Ababa before finally flying home. A number of my research colleagues have also stayed in and recommend this hotel. Although the food in the restaurant isn't great and the customer service isn't spectacular, the hotel is perfect for a good, safe...

Semien Hotel is a three star hotel in Addis Ababa with very reasonable rates. The rooms are decent and the staff is generally very helpful. Maybe the only drawback is that it is a bit away from the main areas of the city. And of course the meals are all Ethiopian. But generally I keep coming back to this hotel...

I spent 4 nights in a room on the third floor in Semien Hotel in November 2011. I pretty much spent all my time in the hotel because in the day time I facilitated a workshop in the conference room on the 7th floor, from where you get a 360 degree view of the city. The hills in the distance...
