Just walking in to the front door with the sculptures and decorated doorways on the first floor, you know someone really cares about this faciity and is proud of the artistic heritage of Mali. I loved the sense of being in Africa that I felt in this hotel. This is not your generic hotel room experience! The decor was superb and it was very quiet. I loved the location as well as the vibrant life on the streets outside. I found lovely food in this locality and had a great time all round.

Le Djenne is an oasis in Bamako. When so many hotels are tryng to imitate the Western style, this hotel, run by the formidable Animata Traoré, sticks proudly to African traditions. Traoré is well respected for her writings and her fight on behalf of African culture and women, and you can feel her passion in the place. Delightfully decorated by...
