Historic building with a lot of history Rooms and furnitures show the age but are clean and installations are working which is not the case in all hotels in Nepal. Solar power lights in the rooms are great during power outage and WLAN was allways available. The owner is very friendly and makes sure you feel comfortable. He borrowed me...

Great location over looking Durbar Square. Nice roof terrace to sit if you want to escape the craziness of Kathmandu. Clean and Basic rooms... Hotel owner is a but grumpy.... But hey Thought the location was very central. Just goes to show you, you don't need to be paying the inflated prices of Thamel...

The owner here is friendly and helpful. It's a good old fashioned hotel in a great location by Durban square. The area here is much quieter than Thamel and has a few nice restaurants including some good cheap Nepali ones.

The rooms are not very up to date but it is suitable for backpackers and those on a budget who aren't fussy. The staff are friendly and pretty cool. Wifi was weak in the room but good just outside the room and in common areas. Good location with good views.

Located meters away from Durbar sq this hotel is charming as well as the staff always there to help in any way. Only bad point is the cold during the night and the fact that there is no heater. Otherwise a place to recommend for budget travelers looking for more quiet, cultural and less touristic place than thamel

I stayed here in December 2012. I had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the square. the room had two single beds and an ensuite. The bathroom was very standard and not very nice but there was hot water. The room was ok, I literally came here to sleep so I wasn't too bothered what the room was like....

I always go here when I'm in Kathmandu. I love the location, right on Basantpur Square. The owner, Varun, always invites you for a glass of locally brewn alcohol and nice conversation. Really, who wants to stay in Thamel when you can stay here?

Tired of the noisy Thamel, we were looking for accomodation in other areas of Kathmandu when we found Hotel Sugat. The hotel is an old property and it could take a renovation, but overall we found it really cosy. We were offer a room facing the square with attached bathroom for 550 NPR. The room was not very big, but...

“Don't have high expectations this is a simple hotel. The rooms not overlooking the square are a little dark but probably quieter than the ones that do.”
