Dwarika's is a gem. It's an architectural treasure chock-a-block full of amazing Newari art and architecture. The rooms are huge and charming, and the courtyard is a destination in and of itself. You couldn't find a better base from which to explore Kathmandu if you want a luxurious and authentic location. The food is over-priced, but excellent and hygienic - you can eat the salad! Service is terrific, including a terrific spa that has amazing massages at super-reasonable prices.

We stayed overnight as the last hotel to visit Nepal.
◆Location It's less than 10 minutes' drive from Tribhuvan International Airport, along a busy street. However, once you step into the hotel grounds from the entrance, you will feel as if you have stepped into another world, with a quiet space isolated from the outside world.
It is located a short distance from the so-called main tourist attractions of Kathmandu city, such as Durbar Square, but this hotel stay may itself be considered a sightseeing trip.
◆ Facilities The interior of the hotel is exotic, luxurious and clean. The design of the building and the selection of furnishings are very interesting, and it incorporates natural light well, giving you an extraordinary feeling.
I stayed in the Junior Suite Room, which is more than 60 sqm in size, has high ceilings, and is very comfortable and relaxing.
Breakfast was a buffet-style breakfast in the dining room, but there was a wide selection and the food was of high quality. Also, the on-site Nepalese restaurant Krishnarpan is a must-visit. You can fully enjoy the authentic and high-level Nepalese cuisine.
◆Service The employees were very friendly and helpful in a variety of ways.
In particular, I remember being able to use the shower in my room free of charge when I returned to my hotel in the evening after sightseeing in Kathmandu city after checking out because my flight home was in the middle of the night. I was very thrilled because Kathmandu at the time was very hot during the day and sweaty. Thank you for that verse.
It was a memorable and memorable stay, and in general I was very satisfied. If I ever get a chance to revisit Kathamandu in the future, I definitely want to stay there again.

Kathmandu is a bustling city, but once you step inside the hotel, it is a paradise filled with tranquility and harmony. I am impressed by the kindness of the staff. You can also taste the many artworks of Made in Nepal in the building, and feel like you have been to a museum.
The hotel room was spacious, clean and stress-free, and I was able to relax and relieve my fatigue in Kathmandu.
Breakfast is also available on a number of menus, with not only Nepalese dishes, but also Western dishes and miso soup to satisfy everyone.

It certainly is a unique experience when staying at The Dwarika's Hotel. From the saluting Security Guard on the door to the very personal attention from all the staff, this architecturally restored building offers one a view into a previous time while staying in bustling Kathmandu. We thought the Fusion Bar was a delightful place to dine and relax your tired feet after a long day and the Courtyard is an enchanting and lush place to dine and sit during your stay. The courtyard pool is small and can be rather refreshing, as not heated, but is beautifully in keeping with the restored building. However, the Krishnapathan restaurant felt a little gimmicky with the order to remove shoes, wash hands, floor seating and addition of an apron (despite there being a napkin provided) all within minutes of arriving. It just felt far to canteen-like for our taste. Also, we were in Room 301 which, while huge, was disappointing on so many levels. It had a severe lack of power points, an incredibly slippery tiled floor and a hairdryer that's plug had to be forced into the power socket by Housekeeping to use it. More importantly, since the room ran the full width of the property, it had no protection from outside noise. There was a busy alley down below with the constant buzz of motorbikes and had a tied up dog in the property next door that barked constantly day and night. It was far from the oasis or sanctuary from the cacophony of Kathmandu that we had hoped for or as referred to in other Reviews. We can’t be the only people to have reported this problem with this room. So, I would say, visit this extraordinary Hotel, but perhaps be prepared for less than a 5* experience.

We have been lucky enough to stay in some beautiful hotels on our travels , but after a while they fade from the memory. Dwarika's is different: it will forever be part of our memories of our holiday to the wonderful city of Kathmandu. From the outside it looks ordinary , but when you step through the entrance into the main courtyard you feel like you've stepped into another world. You are surrounded by intricate carvings, gorgeous arched windows and traditional artwork and it feels like you are staying in an old Nepali palace. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated and is an oasis of calm in the bustling city. From the spacious, well equipped rooms to the stunning pool area, the high quality breakfasts to the excellent evening meal we had in the courtyard , everything about the hotel was perfect. The wonderful staff are a real asset . Friendly, welcoming and efficient, they did all they could to help us enjoy our holiday - thank you to them all. We are so glad that we chose Dwarika's as the base for our trip. It was more expensive than the hotels we usually stay at , but it was worth every penny. Kathmandu has so many highlights and Dwarika's is one of them.

The owners of Dwarika's have created a truly original and fascinating hotel that gives visitors an authentic impression of Nepalese culture and architecture. I arrived during Diwali/Tihar and the hotel was looking particularly beautiful with flowers, rangoli, and lights everywhere. It was a wonderful introduction to Nepal. On returning from trekking my room was a haven of peace and comfort, providing every comfort anyone could need. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with a wide range of Asian and Western choices.

This is probably our favorite hotel we've ever stayed in. The location is super convenient from the airport. The grounds are beautiful and immaculate. For example, the outdoor furniture white cushion covers are never stained or dirty. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms huge. All the restaurants we tried had fabulous food, pleasing to the eye and palate. The pool area is lovely, but it was a little to chilly for us to swim. The real difference with Dwarika is the incredible staff. Everyone is exceptionally helpful and accomodating. I needed to borrow an electric voltage converter to charge my camera battery and they found one for me. At breakfast the one day the buffet wasn't available, the waiter notice we weren't eating cheese, which he had observed the week prior, so he brought us a plate of cheese. Prior to our evening flight out, the hotel allowed us the use of a room for an hour to shower and relax. Everything about this hotel is top notch. Many hotels are lovely, but the great staff places Dwarika into a class by itself.

The experience at Dwarika was truly perfect. From ambiance to the service every bit was filled with warmth and aimed at teaching us about the culture of Nepal. The fixed menu containing Nepali cuisine is worth a try and suitable for adults as well as children. Beautiful room that overlook a beautiful courtyard make the stay extremely relaxing and enjoyable. Some details like the chirping of birds or the flute music playing further added to the wonderful experience.

From the moment you arrive, you know you’re at a special place. This hotel should be put in the same category as La Mamounia, The Plaza, Del Coronado, The Ritz. The entire staff; front desk, servers, housekeeping, security, just can’t do enough for you. Ram Chandra Gajurel was always at the front of the house to make sure we had everything we needed. By the end of the week, we felt like family. The accommodations are magnificent. An old grand hotel full of antiques & hand crafted art work. Most people prefer staying in the main building but we liked our room in one of the smaller buildings. Very cozy & private. We very much enjoyed the food & ate most of our meals there. Their menus include everything from Continental cruising to Nepalese to Japanese. Don’t miss the 6-30 course set menu restaurant. We chose the 6 courses & couldn’t move afterwards!!! I really can’t find anything wrong with this place.

I went to the Dwarika's hotel with my daughter. Our experience from start to finish felt like a dream. It was an oasis of peace where every single member of the staff was very hospitable, kind and friendly, especially Rushita who was like an angel. The food was amazing and the complementary yoga classes a very fun experience. If you are looking for a place to stay in Kathmandu, the Dwarika's hotel is definitely the place to be!

There has been some confusion in the answers. The steps and golf cart refers to Dwarika's Resort in Dhulikhel, which is about 45 minutes outside the city. That large resort is built on a hill, with lots of walking, and is only for the fit. Dwarika's Hotel in the city of Kathmandu is owned by the same people, but is completely different. It is a city hotel, and does not have any particular walking involved. The restaurants are on the ground floor, and just have a few steps, and most people eat outdoors in the lovely courtyard. The hotel consists of multiple buildings grouped together, so just confirm that their is an elevator convenient to your room if you have mobility issues.

Hi there,
I didn’t buy any local tickets from the hotel’s reception as I had local friends to show me around. But m sure they have that facility. And yes contents inside mini fridge are payable so I stock them with my own 😊
Not sure about pool time but I used it straight after breakfast till 5 pm
I hope this helps
