I have been coming to this hotel for 8 years. While it is not 5 star, and does not have a lift, the staff and owners are lovely, the rooms are clean and it is in the heart of Thamel. The restaurant is fabulous too! Authentic Tibetan food! Yummy!!

The Utse Hotel is located in the popular tourist district of Thamel. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist our group of students. The facilities are secure and I can highly recommend it for student groups. The rooms were clean and well maintained. There was very little need to eat at other locations as...

We stayed our first week in Utse Hotel because it was recommended by a friend. The staff and the hotel owners are very friendly. The included breakfast is also very great! We recommend the Utse Set breakfast because of the tibetian bread! The rooms are also very fine: The room and the attached bathroom are tidy and clean. So if...

After a previous stay at the Utse, we were welcomed back in the most hospitable manner. There is a definite feeling that one is a valued guest, and this is echoed from the owners to all the other staff. Quite a unique experience,in that often a guest just feels anonymous, another face forgotten straight away. The Utse has retained its...

We stayed in the hotel so that we stay very close to Thamel. Thamel is the tourist hub. So many shops around. So many beautiful things to buy. So many places to eat around. This hotel is very beautiful and well maintained.

We brought 13 students here on our first day with the plan of using other hotels in the city, but it provided us with everything we needed so used it throughout our 2 week trip. It has a great central location in Thames, the rooms are basic but good size and the bathrooms have hot running water. The restaurant is...

If you like corporate hotels or standard fare don't stay at the Utse. If your 15 or 50 and like a warm, friendly, comfortable, homely place to stay, and little things to make you smile then stay at the Utse. The one thing money can't buy.........people who genuinely enjoy having guests, helping them settle in and want you to have...

We stayed at the Utse three separate times (October, November, and early December) and in three different rooms during our 6 week Nepal trip. Our experience was consistently great. The Utse is a wonderful refuge from a busy Kathmandu. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they keep the place really clean, the location is convenient, the food at the...

We had a great stay at Utse for 10 days while we attended a nearby conference and explored the area. The staff were friendly and shared their Tibetan culture and experiences with us and kindly upgraded our room. The lack of heating made it chilly but there were plenty of blankets and the rooftop garden was an absolute suntrap, complete...
